Default Question on Invoices ....

I have a .PDF file sent to me by a GM Fleet Manager. The "Inoice" identifies the vehicle by VIN, gives an "MSRP" number, an "INV" number (.946 MSRP), a "GMS" number (.912 MSRP) and a "SUPPLR" number (.953 MSRP).

Obvioulsy the "GMS" number is the lowest on this invoce. The Fleet Manager tells me that the "SUPPLR" number is the price assoicated with GM Supplier Pricing. I don't think it is. I think its the GMS number as I have come to understand that the supplier pricing figure is the lowest the dealer might sell the car for.

I'm also not convinced this is the actual Invoice but rather something the dealers have come up with to email to internet shoppers to convince them they are getting the supplier price.

Advice?

You're wrong. GMS is employee price and unless you are, or related, you won't get it. Supplier pricing (actually acronymed, GSU this year) is something far more people can get. It is NOT the lowest price a car will be sold at.

You can validate the supplier price here (GSU):

http://www.gmbuypower.com/index.jsp?...rType=GMSUPPLR

Just click on the build your own tab and select the year, model and enter your zip code. As you build the car with options you will see the supplier price appear under the MSRP on the right hand side.

You can validate the Employee price here (GMS):

Trusting soul eh? Is it a BARS document display from the GM system? Not bogus. GMS listed on that invoice is GM Employee price. Essentially Dealer invoice minus hodback for a dealers true cost. If you are an employee or can convince the dealer to sell to you for Nothing, that's the number to work with. Supplier is close to invoice (what the dealer actually strokes the check to GM for to buy the car)and a price that's pretty easy to get these days. Most dealers will work with you on the Supplier number (also known as GSU). Dealer invoice on my car was $46,324, Supplier was $46,344 and what I paid. The difference between supplier and invoice will vary depending on the dealers participation in advertising associations listed as LAM group costs on that invoice. Dealers desperate to move iron may cut into holdback for a price less than Invoice.

Thanks, gents .... my son is buying a GMC Acadia in Saline MI. The info was outstanding. I passed along the web sites. It appears the Fleet Manager he's working with and the invoice she sent him is genuine. He's going to get GMS pricing and a fine deal on the Acadia ... nice SUV, BTW.

There must be some truly desperate dealers out there at the moment. Here in the DFW, TX area many are going K off list just to move Vettes. In fact, the problem seems to exist in the Houston market as well. I see many dealers with 2007 models still on the lots. Especially the pace car. Most have the A6 which I suspect is the biggest culprit.
