My door for the vanity mirror on the passenger side visor broke and I ordered a new visor. Has anyone replaced the visor before? I have the shop manuals but the one in the manual is different than the one in the vette! I know it is probably easy but I can't figure it out.
It's easy but confusing until you do it a couple of times..
stick a screwdriver blade in the slot at the base of the visor support. Hold the screwdriver still while you rotate the visor towards the window.. The visor will fall out of the slot as it moves towards the window.. You are holding the outer ring as the inside ring moves and needs to drop thru the slot.
If you fold the visor down towards the windshield you will see the base where the arm rotates at the pillar. Looking up at the base you will see a "C" shaped slot where the arm pivots towards the window and back.
Rotate the visor down and in the center of that slot place the blade of a flat screwdriver. This small slot is perpendicular to the arc of the arm. While holding the screwdriver in the slot rotate the visor towards the window and allow the arm to press against the shaft of the screwdriver. As you rotate about 45 degrees you will feel the plastic base of the visor move to dislodge. At that point you can pull the visor arm out of the headliner.
Now just detach the base and move it on to the new visor and reverse the steps to put it back in.
