Hatch lid closing problem

Default Hatch lid closing problem

It started the other day. When the car is not running the hatch lid pull down wont pull down all the way. When I start the car it seems to work fine. I had sound system installed a couple of months ago and Im wondering if the two amps are weakening the battery or if any of you guys had this issue. My volt meter is showing a good charge to battery.Any ideas?

did the problem start as soon as the sound system was installed?

No. It just started,thats about three months after.

then you can probably rule that one out. next thing is what was the voltage reading of the battery at room temp fully charged? should be 12.8 to 12.9 using a digital VOM

Electricity isnt my gig, Im assuming these numbers are with engine off?

another thing to consider is if you have big amps that pull a lot of power and your charging system isn't up to the task then it puts undue stress on the battery ie, alternator is too small for the job at hand. this shortens the life of the battery. the wire sizes also need to be increased for the increased current draw to the amps.
