I REALLY hate that GM put the rearview mirror buttons on the bottom of the mirror.
I'm a tall driver and even with the mirror as far up as possible, this row of buttons along the bottom of the mirror restricts some of my vision of the road. (They should have put them on as a top row)
I don't care about Onstar, only the adaptive darkening and the cabin lights for the mirror. As I have the Nav system, I could also lose the compass.
Does anyone know of a replacement mirror that has both the adaptive darkening and the cabin lights withOUT buttons on the bottom?

in addition, my mirror wobbles and vibrates like crazy.

I think you might have a screw loose. Seriously, there is a little screw that holds the mirror on the bracket that is glued to the window glass. If the screw is loose, the mirror will wobble and vibrate. You need a small hex key to tighten.
Top or bottom, the mirror height would be the same and the bottom of the mirror would still be in the same plane.
Some GM vehicles have the OnStar buttons on the IP and some GM vehicles have the OnStar buttons on the overhead console. Most commonly, they are on the ISRVM.
Hmmm I'm 6' 4" and my head is maybe an inch from the roof when driving. I have never noticed the mirror blocking my view... Now you're gonna make me look. (or maybe the 2005 mirror is different?)
Is your mirror loose on the bracket or is the whole assembly loose from the windshield? If you've had a windshield replaced that is a common problem as the mounting system gets damaged when removed and it cannot be reattached correctly. Myself and others have required mirror replacement due to this...

Partially true....
Do this.... Push your mirror as far up as possible and adjust it so you can see out the back window as well as possible. Now... Note because of the depth of the mirror there still is a 1" gap between the top front of the mirror and the roof trim. See where the bottom row of buttons sit. Picture chopping off the buttons and putting them on top in that gap. Now you can see with no other changes of the mirrors position, the bottom of the mirror is now higher because the buttons no longer hang below the mirror.
This is what I mean. As a tall driver, that additional 1/2" of button width that is added to the bottom of the mirror impairs my vision in the direction of the mirror. I almost want to rip the thing off and mount it down low on the dash somehow.
