Thanks for the info but that thread assumes the key go's INTO the tumbler mechanism and did'nt open the rear hatch because the cable is off the connector. As mentioned the key only went in half way and would'nt turn any. So the only recourse was to perform the boost tip lifting the front passenger side and putting a charger off the starter. Did that and in 2 minutes had enough power to open the door.

Moral of this experience is check licence plate rear hatch opening mechanism when buying a car to assure it works AND use a battery tender if seasonally storing the car!!! Future service of key mechanism planned. Thanks again!
