Saturday is my ordering day for my new 08 vert. Is there any option that is a must buy other than Z51 which I am ordering? Have always modded my Vetts but the 100,000 mile power train gives me a small pause. What advise can you give? Thanks in advance. Also, are any of the dealer installed options the way to go or are there better after market available?
If you're getting the A6, I'd get the performance rear axle that you can only get with the auto. That's only a few hundred dollars.
Since you're spending quite a bit extra for the convertible anyway, go for the 3LT which includes the power top and the HUD as well as some other things I can't remember right now. In for a penny in for a pound.
Really, the more factory options you get the more complete and pleasurable your car will feel to you. If you try to add them aftermarket, they'll cost more and might not be installed as well as if the factory did them.

Totally loaded is the only way to go! You can't order it with the Z51 emblems, I don't think?
I am leaning hard toward AO but all of my past Vettes have been red. Thanks for the input. Caraveggio will get the car soon after I get it for a full leather wrap and a modded steering wheel. Wheels from HRE are also going to happen soon.
I want nav because it make the interior look better but I hear the sound is not as good as the base unit. Is that true?
IMHO, the NPP dual mode exhause and the R8C Museum Delivery are the two must have options. Everything else depends upon your financial situation. I would prioritize my options like this:
NPP
Museum delivery
3LT
Nav
Chrome Wheels
2 tone interior (if wanted)
Good luck on your decisions...and start counting the days.
If I had to pick one thing it would be the NPP exhaust. Its awesome. Fun to control the flappers with Eds Mild 2 Wild switch too.
...although I use the manual exhaust bypass switch from LG Motorsports on my Z. And the polished wheels unless you intend to go aftermarket. The gray split spokes don't do much for these cars IMHO.
Congrats on ordering your new vette. My advise is to order the options now so you won't be saying later, "I wish I would have ordered that". For your car NPP exhaust is a MUST HAVE. As far a color, that is up to your personal taste. Red is great but there are other colors. Enjoy Donn
Z51 was a necessity for me. NPP + Mild to wild mod is lots of fun! I went with a 2lt because I didn't want the electric top (reportedly very slow to operate) or the 5k price. Glad I did. The only thing I wish I had out ot the 3lt package is the memory seats because I have to move the driver's seat each time I get in/out. For 5k I think I can suffer a little! If you're a bargain hunter there is apparently a fairly strong after-market for the standard split spoke wheels. They look pretty cool chromed. I sold mine and got a set of polished for a net cost of about $500 out the door. Personally, I would never dream of owning an automatic vette....
I had an auto in my '02, I have a six speed in my 3LT/Z51. This really feels like a CORVETTE. Not sorry I made the switch. The one thing you have to remember, get what makes YOU happy!

Do not get the 4LT package (I've seen a few interiors, and they already look worn out). Get the 3LT with the rear axle option. Also, do NOT get the Nav -- get the stock radio. I immediately installed an aftermarket nav./dvd/speakers, and it was waaay better.
If you're going to replace the wheels, then just get the basic wheels -- I did.
