Come on guys. The thread originator has a concern, and is asking for some meaningful response. To replay and say "No problem with my car" provides nothing constructive. If you don't have something useful to say, then maybe just move on rather than taking up space on the tread. There, I ranted enough.

I think there is probably some value to him knowing that it is not a very common problem for 07's. My 07 2900 miles zero problems of any kind.
It is reportedly common for the LS2's to have a sewing machine sound, but I have not heard of any issues with any failing like this. Mine is a "ticker", but a strong runner, & the sound hasn't changed from day one to now.

Please disregard this if the sounds are actually changing. I mention my experience because before I had anyone tear into my engine I would be certain that there is a problem. These engines are nearly fail-proof.
From mile one in my '07, I was concerned about a sound of hard metal-on-metal ticking. Being from the old days, it reminded of other engines having serious problems. I drove two other '07s and each had the same sound.
If the ticking, clicking, clacking is not changing, then please consider my findings.
I spoke with knowledgeable Chevrolet engineers who eventually told me that the valve train is noisy at all cylinders. However, cylinder 7 is situated perfectly for its sound to transmit "very clearly" into the passenger compartment.
This sound is normal.
Sometimes the sound changes because ambient noises change. If I listen carefully on quiet streets over a wide RPM range, I hear the ticking... sometimes loud, sometimes less loud. But I am a little nuts when it comes to this type of sound...
I just got back from a long trip with my '07. One morning, it tapped up a storm which is the first time I've heard that from it. It sounded like there wasn't any oil in it. All the way back home over two days, it was fine.
lsx engines are noisy by nature....some are more noisy than others...this is my second ls2...it is much louder than my 05 ls2...valve train noise...but it is typical ls noise imo....this one I have now has a distinct one valve lifter tick when cold....much better when warm. I'm not real worried based on the way lsx engines sound in general. My ls1 was loud too lol...
They are loud and aluminum blocks are loud so that doesn't help either.

I agree. I had my LS1 in for a smog check, and heard all this clattering on the right side with the hood up. I thought something was worn out or broken, until I went to the other side of the engine, and it was doing the same thing. At that point, I was apparent that's just the way they are, and since the hood is rarely up with the engine running, I never noticed it before. The fuel injectors can be noisy, too.
To the original poster, I would recommend checking out some other cars for comparison.

I've had the same thing occur probably 4 times on my 05. Exact description. The four times were randomly spread apart. Hasn't done this in along time. Presently have 74,200 miles
Marvel Mystery Oil has the effect of reducing oil foaming which could be why it is effective for some people. I suggest going to an ASE certified independent mechanic and have them check for oil aeration or oil pump o-ring, which is what I will do. From my experience going to dealer is only a waste of time --- I went to 4 different dealers and none was willing to admit there is anything abnormal.

I have had this same problem (07 Coupe) but I thought that I was overreacting. I have also noticed that when I accelerate and let off then try to accelerate again, it almost feels as if it is missing the gear...hard to explain and I have been meaning to take it in for a check up...if I can ever get away from this stupid work project
