here are some from a car exactly like mine these are from www.legacygt.com i am a mod there and this guy is the resident detailer on our forum OC Details. i will still take some pics of my wife's Forester if it's sunny tomorrow. this stuff really works i have no interest in this product other than letting you all know there is a easier way to look good. a light buffing with soft dry cloth gives it a nice stain finish.

That is a nice finish, but how does the product get rid of oil, grease and the dirt film?
And thank you for taking the time to post up those pictures, big difference between the before and after.
Looks like your not getting an answer so I'll try. The caps look like they came from board member "pipedreams" at nakidparts.com,he also makes body colored battery covers. I saw a body colored fuse cover at gscreationsllc.com they also have a body colored battery cover but I think it is just a top.
Thanks for the site. Will order battery and fuse cover from above and caps in M.yellow caps from Ed who I purchasrd the NPP SYSTEM IN THE BOX from.Do you think the covers shoud have a logo with all of the above going on plus the rails??
you want your engine compartment looking like a professional did it with no hosing or wiping? note: if engine is greasy then it needs to be degreased but if it's like most Corvette engines you can just spray this on and walk away. no joke engine compartment will look like new with no work plus it will stay looking good longer. CD-2 Engine Detailer www.cd-2products.com good luck finding it sometimes Pep Boys and the like will have it otherwise amazon.com is where i bought mine. this stuff is unreal.
I know this is not a C6...duh...
But I was looking for some extra engine compartment detailing info and stumbled across this thread. I have been detailing my car regularly and normally would just wipe down the engine, etc. I decided to get serious and hit up a few friends for advice. They all pretty much went with the Simple Green routine. I dug up some brushes and I have tons of rags, etc., but I was not satisfied with Simple Green. I diluted it a bit and was not too liberal with the stuff cuz I didnt want it to eat up paint or rubber. Whether it does or not, I don't know, but I did not want to find out the hard way.
So, I went to Auto Zone and asked. They had this product (CD-2) and it claimed to leave a beautiful finish and also claimed it would NOT harm the rubber, paint, etc.
The stuff works really well. The pics I am posting are with a camera phone and do not have the best quality. My motor was not extremely dirty, but many places in the engine compartment were dusty and hard to reach. I had worked on the motor tediously all day and had done the best I could under the circumstances. I am NOT cool with a garden hose or air compressor, so I just widled away all day.
I will continue to work on the motor tomorrow, but I was very impressed at what the CD-2 did in a matter of moments. They instruct you to not even wipe it down, just leave it, let it set, and run the motor a little...

For the hoses and wire bundles I use Stoners Trim Shine spray.
I was using the ArmorAll wipes on the hoses since they were so easy to use. The wipes aren't a dirt magnet on the hoses but still have to be rubbed on every surface. A lot of tight spaces and I'm not as young and agile as I used to be (just as good looking, through.... )
The Stoners trim spray is a lot easier to use. Just spray it on with no wiping. Cleans the rubber and leaves a slight glossy shine. About a two minute job.

I liked the etched look of the fuse cover emblem and think I will order that.
I didn't like their emblem for the battery cover it looks kind of cheesy.
