I just got a promo in the mail to use my GM Card points-- they rounded up my 700 points to $2000 AND IT WAS APPLICABLE TO CORVETTES!!
*The catch was it was limited to dealer stock vehicles, and expired this month.
Sooooooo, I flew to Atlantic City yesterday and drove home in my new Kerbeck 08 Coupe-- Velocity Yellow.
That coupon pushed me to Kerbeck rather than ordering a car-- I made out on avoiding the price increase and getting extra GM Card points.
Made a significant difference!
It was not limited to dealer stock vehicles. I ordered my Vert in November and am taking Museum delivery on 2/1. According to my dealer, I will get the extra $1000 off, along with the $1000 for points I had accumulated. The key is that you have to take delivery before the end of January. Paying for the car constitutes taking delivery. Although I didn't know anything about the 2K Top Off plan when I ordered my car, I was lucky enough to get the extra $1000 from my GM card.
It depends on what kind of GM Card you have. I got mine in the mid 90's, and there is a $500.00/year cap for 7 years (a total of $3500.00 over 7 years). I earned $2300.00 off my 2007, in addition to the $500.00 over invoice sale price. If you were to get a GM card now though, I think there is a cap of $1000.00.
That's what I have. I've saved over $7,000.00 so far with another $1000.00 built up since I bought the vette. Almost like getting a free car in a few more years.
1. Do not tell the dealer you have the card until you reach a final price!! I love bargaining my way down to the lowest price only to bring out the card for a nice rebate.
2. Watch the finance charges which seems to go up the more you redeem the $$. I don't use my GM Card if I know I will have to carry a balance.
