When I was 16 a friend had a 1965 or 1966 289 fastback k code mustang. We were going about 20 mph and he punched it. I was shocked at the way it responded. It literally felt like it would take off and fly. That was over 50 years ago and seems like last week. Those were some good old days.

Reason: made an error
got a ride in a c4 when i was about 10 years old. loved it
once at work a dude brought his track car and gave me a ride in it, was a 3rd gen camaro with a built up 350. Probably nothing stock on it, I think he ran 9.8s in the 1/4
1974 HS Sr Prom! I owned a 65 Impala at the time. I had to stop by the golf course I worked at to grab my check so I had some $$ for the weekend. I went in full tux! Owner spotted me and asked what was up, so I told him, prom. He said you're picking up your girl in the Impala are you? I said sure I am. He gave me the keys to his 74 Corvette along with his Amoco card and said see you Monday!
It was the late 70's riding on a test drive after helping my friend's older brother install a cam and headers on his red '68 Chevelle 396 4spd. Open headers, revved up, drop the clutch, big smokey squirely burnout for about 3 houses.
When I was 16 I worked at a used car lot in Ontario, California. We specialized in low riders and muscle cars (what a combo)! My boss asked me to follow him to the paint shop to drop two cars off. He was driving a '67 GTO. I was driving a 70 Plum Crazy Hemi Cuda. Holy crap that was fun. But, I almost ran out of gas. If that car is around today it is worth big bucks.

Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
