Ive had two Flomaster sets , one on a Camaro z28 and one on a silverado pickup truck and they both sound super. Definetely sound better than the borla I had on a 2001 c5 corvette. The vette with borlas sounded like a motorboat and it was a big mistake on my part for paying aloy of money for them.Sure the Borlas last forever ,but the ones I had did not produce the hot rod sound the american thunder Flowmasters do. It is just a shame the flowmasters are not stainlesssteel.
I love my Flows. Have them on my Ram also. Nice Muscle Sound.
Now, if you want LOUD...get the B&B Bullets, they are headache pounding loud! Have B&B's on my Boxster also, but they sound much better (maybe because they still have mufflers, whereas the Bullets are almost straight pipes).
I've heard the breaking in thing too but I think its actually the person getting used to the sound rather than the sound changing. I have flowmasters on my 69 camaro and absolutely love the sound. I have Corsas on my ZR-1 and, although they sound good, they are high pitched and if I could go it all over I would go with another brand. I have Magnaflows on my c6 and they are too quiet. They do sound good but should be louder.
I love the 'deepness' of the Flows but its just not loud enough for me...but dont have the coin right now to drop on some headers...thats my dilemma...
Why doesn't flowmaster make a kit with 40 series mufflers? That is why your Tahoe and Silverado sound better is because they probably have a 40 series. My wife had a 40 series on her Tahoe and that thing sounded mean.
See the funny thing is i HAVE 50-series on my Tahoe right now and it sounds way better than the 50-series i had on my corvette not sure if they are different or what but wasn't too happy with them on the corvette.
