Default C6 Trivia

Hey guys,

I am looking for some "fun facts" or trivia on the C6. I can find lots of cool facts on the other gens, but very little on the C6.

Anyone slip me a few trivia facts. Remember, only for the C6

Thanks

on post 2005 models, you can hold the page button before you shut the car off and display the highest recorded G reading on your hud.

2005 and 2006 cars with painted panels originally were released with the panel made from Polycarbonate as a weight savings. Delamination issues caused the panel material to be changed back to the SMC material that was used on the C5 roof panel.

The Z51 front rotors weigh 2 lbs. more than their base and F55 counterparts.

The C6 is the first Corvette since 1962 to not have hideaway headlights.

The design cues for the profile of the C6 were taken from the F22 Raptor.

on the 07 (3LT ONLY) equipped models, if you keep the traction control button depressed for exactly 60 seconds, you can engage AND arm your rockets to take out cars in front you to clear up extra space....comes in handy when mustangs or chargers keep naggin you to race

There was 1 Torch Red C6 produced, in 2004. It resides at the Museum where no mortal can get it. (thanks Talon90)

From start to finish it takes a Corvette between 33-36 hours on the assembly line to get built.

The older C6 painted tops (before the SMC tops) weighed 21#.
The newer painted SMC tops weigh approximately 24#.
The transparent tops weigh 20#.

Although to many people it looks longer, the C6 is actually 2.6" shorter than the 1958 - 1962 C1 and 0.5" shorter than the C2 (all model years).

The LSx engine is fired up and run after assembly for several minutes on natural gas. This procedure doesn't contaminate the oil with gasoline combustion by-products.

There is over 5 miles of wire on the typical C6 laid out end to end.

The wheels and tires are farmed out to Firestone for mounting and balancing

Here's an interesting trivia question.

What get's better EPA highway mileage:

A 436 hp manual trans Corvette, or a 173 hp manual trans Solstice.

The Vette, 26 vs 25.

I just love rubbing that into my friend with a Solstice.

All C6 – the base of the A pillars are not symmetrical

All C6 Z06 – pretty big odd shaped hole in each front fender (to accommodate EU sidemarkers) covered by the Z in the Z06 badge. Thus the hole is not symmetrical to the other side.

Natural gas? Is that for real? Very, very cool trivia!
