Default Event Code Check?

Might just be an active imagination but I'm starting to wonder if I'm getting the business from my dealer.

I placed an order on Dec 7 and was assured they had an allocation. Been in several times since asking for a current event code on the order. Have not for the life of me been able to get anything other than "in process" or something like that.

As I told them, I'm not in any hurry to get the car (butt deep in snow here) however I just wanted to know where I stand in the process----and if things have indeed progressed past the 1100's.

Anyhow I wondered if a kind soul out there with access to the system could look up order number MNHFZY ------if that's even possible.

Thanks in advance guys!

There is absolutely no valid reason for the dealer not to give you the exact status of your order. On the other hand, if they really don't have an allocation and are trying to hide that fact from you, then that would explain why they won't give you the status. This should certainly be raising a red flag.

I had the same problem. I placed my order in mid-November. My dealer didn't give me the order code until early January. I am sure that he did not have an allocation.

Yeah Norm, I remember reading about your deal---what a hassle. Good things are finally working out for you.

I was hoping having my order number means there was indeed an allocation ----but I'm not sure if it works like that.

You are correct-Having an order number does not mean the dealer has an allocation. My neighbor and I will be picking our Vettes up at the Museum on 1/31, so it finally worked for us. But when I saw the level of communications provided by some of the Forum dealers, I was envious. Looking at some of the threads on the Forum, I also saw how quickly their orders moved through the process.

An order number is assigned to any order entered into the GM workbench order system regardless of the dearler having an allocation available or not.

Having an order number doesn't mean diddly. Do a search. One of the vendors here volunteered to look up the status of orders.

Thanks for the tip. Just did a search and I guess Ken was doing this----however a couple months ago GM changed the system and he can no longer look up any orders other than his own---darn:

What a ride. I have been providing event code history and tracking orders for customers who did not purchase from me for over 2 years! 2118 posts on 106 pages.

Unfortunately, GM closed the portal thru which I was able to check orders other than my own. I am no longer able to provide this service.

Please accept my apology.

Have a great day,

Sorry folks but the web based system that we use (GM DealerWorld) only allows us to view orders that we have submitted. The old system that we could access via the GM satellite system has been decommissioned.

Bottom line, if you are having a difficult time getting the information out of your selling dealer you might consider moving your business to a forum dealer who will provide you the service you deserve!

Ken
Time to get some answers next week I reckon.

Anyway, thanks for all the advice guys.

The positive side is even if it were to be in today, and picked up next week as an event code other than entered into system, it'd probably get to you around 4/1. That's still way before snow melt time, and snow mound time, right?

All advice above seems good. Norm didn't, but maybe it's time to look elsewhere for not only a truthful answer, but the car itself.

Must have slipped my mind because it was the wrong "Rick". I ordered mine from the other Rick who posts order status on his web page.

GM's new system only allows dealers to check their own orders, they can't check orders from other dealers. That is my understanding anyway.

Your dealer sounds like he's using your order as insurance that his next allocation will be filled! Cancel it and order from a forum dealer - I did!
