Once I get a confirmation number can I track the build progress myself and if so how can I do it? My dealer is supposed to place the order today along with another as he has two allocations. Thanks in advance for the help.
Apparently GM changed their system in Nov, now dealers can only track their own orders, they can't track orders placed with other dealers. That was a bummer. You probably need to just keep after your dealer a couple times a week to get updates if your sales person or the gen mgr won't update you automatically/voluntarily.
When I ordered my '05, I was able to get some help from my dealer by asking to meet the inventory manager. I promised to not be a pest but would appreciate a weekly update by e-mail with just the status code. The list of what they mean is on this forum. After the first update, I stopped by with some cookies from the local convenience store. When my car was delivered, I gave him a bottle of wine (not expensive, but not Ripple). I knew the build week and ship date before my sales guy did.
Once you get that contact at the dealer here are the codes and what they mean so you can play along at home.
