Have a new car coming soon. Wanting to upgrade the "08" painted split spoke to chrome split spoke. Are repo's factory wheels that have been chromed or are they aftermarket wheels. Are the aftermarket wheels as good as factory? Weight-warranty-ect. Who would you recommend I purchase from. Thanks for the input.
You can get both kinds. Check out West Coast Corvettes site. They offer the '08 chrome split spokes in Factory Reproductions and Factory Exchange where you buy their genuine GM wheels, chromed, pay a core charge then send back your stock wheels after mounting the new ones and get your core charge refunded. Both look great. We haven't heard any bad reports on the Reproductions but there seems to be a slight weight increase with the repros.
Here is the link for the "Exchange" wheels to get you started:
Just ordered my 08 last week after trading in my 07, which rims I loved. I'm not overly impressed with any of the selections for 08. The base wheels don't quite resemble the zo6, and would be better in my opinon if they were chrome. The chrome wheel option looks to bright as many forum members will agree. If your buying a Lexus or Escalade, chrome is the way to go, not on a Corvette in my opinion. The forged polished however, resemble my 07's a little, or not as bright as the chrome, but are brighter than the base. The difference in style will also let everyone know you have an 08.
So with all that said, It comes down to personal preference. I hope I didn't offend any chrome wheel lovers, as I think chrome looks awesome on many cars I see weekly at local car shows on Long Island. For me, a 38 year old with 2 kids, the forged polished seemed to work best for me, and just changed my order 2 hours ago under the wire.
