I want a convert, triple black, stick, chrome, exhaust on the 08, Z51, 3LT. Both cars have the same options except the 07 does not have the exhaust. I can get about $4k more discount on the 07 and the 07 prices are lower. 08 is about $59k and the 07 is about $51k.
I can afford $59k but $8k is $8k. Which one should I get?
Have had many vettes but this will be my first C6.
Take this from a guy who bought an 07 last year and swore to his wife that this was the last car until im 50, 13 years later. With all the changes in the 08 with 436 vs 400hp, onstar, sat radio, improved handling and shifting, NPP, new colors, not to mention dealerships giving them away, you'd be crazy not to jump at an 08 especially if it is not going to break the bank.
you asked. not enough difference to amount to 8 grand. how long are you going to keep it? more that 4-5, get the 08. less than that get the 07. 8 grand is alot of money like 15%+- less. if you just want a vette to drive i would opt for the new 07.
Work with one of the supporting dealers on here. They can probably get you the best price.
Here's one with really good prices that blow the doors off the deals you're being offered. They've got 07 Pace Cars for the same price you were offered...Which I happen to think is pretty . http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1904667
Lot's of guys saying to get the '08 but either they have a lot more money than I or aren't thinking it all the way through.
$8000 is still $8000 and then you have the additional sales tax on that which could make it almost $9000. I could buy a lot of stuff with $9000.
That '07 will be a one year-old low mileage used car once you drive it off the lot and the car is not significantly different than the '05-'06's (or even the '08). I'll bet you could find a low mileage Black '07 like the one you want in the mid $40K's range. Now were talking a $15K difference to the '08. Now unless you have a burning desire to say "I bought a brand new 'Vette" I would get (and I did) a low mileage used one.
FWIW, I bought one a brand new one in '87 (over 20 years ago) and in cost me $32K. Two weeks ago I bought a low mileage, nearly perfect loaded '05 - with waranty) for just about that. The thrill of driving that car away was the same and it had the bonus of me not imagining $100 bills flying out the window as I did. While I was at the dealer, another guy was taking delivery of an '08 (that looked exactly like mine) and it had a sticker of $60K. That's a huge difference price difference to me.
I would get the '07 if I planned to keep the car for a long time. Resale probably wouldn't matter as much and you could buy the exhaust you wanted for a lot less. I would get the '08 if I planned to sell or trade up in the next few years.
