I bought my MY 05 MN6 11,000 miles a week before Christmas, by the way it is awesome!, and when I went to pick it up from the individual the battery seemed to be dead. I popped the hood and the positive cable was loose and when I went to tighten it up it came off. Well this caused the DIC to begin to through codes and read NO FOBS DETECTED.
I called the dealer and they told me that removing the battery cable causes the ecu on the car to reset and it must be brought in and reprogrammed. The car is under warranty and long story short is that they determined that the battery shorted out and taking the cable off had nothing to do with it so it was covered and they got it fixed.
I wanted to know if what they told me is the truth and how do you change the battery in this case?
Most who have posted here have indicated that the only thing that had to be reset was the window indexing. That's covered in the manual and doesn't require the dealer to do it.
Raise the window and hold the up switch an extra 3 seconds. Release. Without lowering the window, hold the up switch again for 3 seconds. Release. Done.
This is called resetting of the window indexing or power window initialize and is in the owner's manual. See page 2-17 of the 2005 owner’s manual, page 2-18 of the 2006 owner’s manual, page 87 of the 2007 owner’s manual, page 2-18 of the 2008 owner’s manual.
However, I cannot tell you anything about it from personal experience.
I read my manual twice before I went to get it and that's what I thought too.
Hopefully it's just one of those things. Car came with 5 year 75000 mile extended warranty with no deductable so I'm not too worried about it. Just simply curious.

Dealer Only thing you will need is a window reindex. On some rare times, your door mirrors will need a resetting (EASY) I had the mirror thing twice, but most people never do
Had my battery disconnected for 3 months and just put it back on this weekend. Every thing was just like I left it. The radio programs and nav info. all came back. Windows had to be reset for indexing. And best of all it started right up.
Not to steal OP's thread, but does anyone know if the "old way" of plugging in a 9 volt battery into the car will keep all settings (such as window indexing) when a car battery is disconnected?
and if it does, does it still allow for the car's memory to otherwise reset, which is usually one of the key reasons to disconnect the battery?
