Default Parking in reverse

I have seen numerous comments, most of which are complaints about having to park an 05 standard trans in reverse. I don't understand why this is so aggravating? What am I missing here

Some of the problem is caused because some individuals got in the habit of leaving the tranny in some other gear.

Also, valets will frequently ignore the instruction.

Also, Chevy dealership personnel would also sometimes ignore the requirement.

You want your battery drained because of someone else's stupidity?

Valets and dealerships-
I don't Valet park as a rule but have had to once or twice. I usually make the guy ride with me to park and He can fetch it on the way out.
I have also has a dealership kill my battery by noy putting in reverse.
And because it is only on the 05s, no one believes you when you tell them that they MUST put it in reverse.

Installing a priority Start is the best solution for the peace of mind factor.

Me, I don't think you're missing anything, I agree. It isn't a big deal and no, I don't valet park either. Heck, it even chimes and the DIC displays a message to put it in reverse to remind you. I guess some people like to complain...... Not a perfect set up by any means but certainly not worth getting all worked up over.

I've always shifted to reverse when parking the car in any standard transmission car I've owned. I don't have any problem doing the same with the 'Vette.

Maybe we need to have the A4 and A6 guys whine about having to shift to park?

One of the worse things about owning these cars-Backing up !! I can back my 3/4 ton truck easier than backing the vette.

As I never had a valet park my 05, I can sure agree with the rest of that post

Personally, I rather like the feature. I park in reverse anyway, and on the couple of occasions where I've forgotten to the car nicely reminded me.

I've been driving standard transmission cars since 1966. I've always parked them in reverse.

No big deal, but I have had many cars and trucks and never "had to" park one in any specific gear.
