I purchased my Z in April of 2007, and at that time the salesmen told me the vehicle was from the 2007 Chicago Auto Show. I'm trying to find out if this is true or if he was blowin' smoke, so I recently contacted member "GMAutotech" for his assistance and he was able to supply the vin report of the vehicle. The vin report has some unusual RPO codes that I was trying to decipher, and I am unable to find any information about them. The main RPO code I was trying to get information about is the "ZR6-Zone Show Vehicle". My question is does anyone know what is different on a "ZR6" vehicle, as opposed to the next "Z" coming down the assembly line?
Secondly, does anyone have any knowledge of "QEK Show Car Facility" up in Warren MI? as to what they do.
Lastly, I would like to give a big thank you to David-GMautotech for his quick response to my inquiry.

 

Well, I just did a quick Google search on "corvette rpo code zr6". Didn't find an explanation but it appears to be a regular code that goes back at least to the Buck GN days. It doesn't appear to have any special significance but that is just my observation so far.

I would suggest you wait for Talon90 or JimTN or another of the really experienced guys to come by here. I'm sure one or more of them will know. Good luck.

 

I've got a list of GM RPO codes that someone else posted and I saved. It has approximately 135-140 RPO codes, but no ZR6.

EDIT: I just had the Microsoft disk search function to look in all the order books I have for the 4 C6 model years and there's not an RPO code ZR6 in any of them.

 

Jim, did you try my Google search. There are several hits, one of them was in Corvette Action Center, there is a huge list of codes for the C4's and ZR6 was in there but no explanation. Thanks.

I tried searching ZR6 in the forum and I didn't see that, so thank you. My vehicle had a bunch of accessories installed that the selling dealer didn't install so maybe that's the difference with the cars coming down the assembly line??

GM does use internal codes to diff cars that are going to be used by GM they would not be listed as such for the General public. These are internal codes for internal use only.Just like the vin on the Barrett Jackson ZR1 carried x22 in the vin. not for resale co use pre production. Your first clue no selling dealer and the drop ship address.All show cars must be held at a location till its needed.

Update**
In case anyone is in a similar situation and is trying to track down all pertinent information of their car: I contacted QEK Show Car Facility in Warren MI, in a attempt to confirm or disprove if this was the vehicle in the 2007 Chicago Auto Show(as I was told). After a approx two week wait I got a reply stating they(QEK) could not give any information due to "confidentiality Agreements" with the manufacture(s). Oh well, no big deal. Just curiosity.
