I bought a replacement cap or button for the emergency brake, it's a carbon fiber look alike. Now I need to know how to get the stock button off to put the new one on. Did not come with directions. It looks like it should just pull off but thought I would ask first.
Pipedreams gave these instructions on another post.
Pull down the boot. Loosen the screw holding the ebrake handle on and then grasp and pull towards the dash firmly. The button is simply friction fit on to the lever assembly and retained by the handle.

The operative word is "firmly". I thought I was going to break something, but I pulled hard enough and it popped right off.
I think that firmly is an understatement.
I followed those same instructions to the letter. Once I removed the screw holding the leather covered ebrake handle, it had a good 2 inches of play where the handle would slide around as if it was going to come off. But at the end of travel it always seemed to be catching on something. I literally yanked that handle as hard as I could for as long as I could until my arm got sore (wow that sounds kind of perverted), but in the end, it would not come off. On the plus side, nothing broke either. I gave up and never did get the thing off. Hope you have better luck than me!

That's right. You have to yank as hard as you can. When you think that you are pulling with enough force to break something, then that's the correct amount of force. Wait, "pulling" is too gentle, you have to "yank."
