power seats won't work

My power seats work when I'm outside the car. I've only had the car for about 3 weeks now and they worked fine while I was driving, the easy exit function worked. Also my steering will not telescope. I finally thought that there may be a pressure switch (I'm a big boy). Sure enough, I was kneeling outside the car and moving the seat (electonically) and it was moving, then I started pushing down on the seat and it shut off. What gives. i'm new to all off the programming and I'm wondering if I've accidentally shut something off. I successfully reprogrammed the number 1 position to my personal specs and also the exit function as well. Now nothing works while I'm sitting in the car. Any suggestions????
thanks
John
if you want call 409-781-8424.....very frustrating

Just a reminder that all of your settings are set to the FOB you had when you first programmed the seats.

I found this out when I changed FOBs the seat went back to allow the easy exit but wouldn't move back when I started the car. Took the original FOB and everything worked fine.

If the seats don't move at all when you press the #1 memory then you will need to take it in for warranty work (hope it is under warranty).

Good luck and keep us posted.

I'd definitely take it in to the dealer to have it looked at. BTW...you're the first person I've seen on here from Beaumont. I grew up there and my folks still live there. Had the Vette there a few months back and didn't see too many around there. Good Luck and enjoy that new ride.

thanks guys, I'm still playing with them and I can move the seat and barely put pressure and it stops moving so I don't think it's a "load" problem on the motor (that's what the dealer just told me)also to bring it in....standard answer to everything. I've disconnected the battery hoping that will work.

If you are unable to make it work, that is what the dealer and salesperson is for. It really is not the "standard" answer. IMHO.

There are three connectors inder the driver seat and two under the pax seat. The pax seat has a pressure sensor for the air bag but the driver does not.

The culprit is perhaps a connector that is loosing contact with pressure. Check the connectors to be sure that they are completely together and tight.

If that doesn't cure it - a trip to a dealer might.

I have heated seats. when I looked under the seat and verified that the connections are tight I noticed that right around the area that the seat stops moving when I apply light pressure (20lbs) there is a black box. I'm assuming this is the heating unit. Maybe it's malfunctioning. I will take my seat out and give everything a once over before bringing it in. I have been super busy with work that I haven't had time. I was just wondering if anyone out here in cyberland has had similar issue or maybe knows how to "re-program" me seat/easy exit/telescoping steering wheel. These were all working before, now the aren't. At least not while I'm sitting in the seat. If I lift off the seat while still in car they work again.

Well, took seat completely out of vehicle. Oh btw, if you decide to do this, as you all know the seat is secured by 4 bolts. To access the front two you must remove plastic cover. DO NOT pry off thinking a push pin is holding it in place or you will break it (trust me on this one). Instead, slide it forward just about 1/2 inch, it's gonna be tough because of the carpet but worth it. Anyway I verified all connections. The black box I was refering to earlier that was right under the area of the seat that when I pushed down the motor stopped is the seat control module. It is hung below the tight wires supporting the seat cushion. After time it is inevitable that this module will bend. After messing with it for around an hour (and finding 83 cents in cold hard cash!) I connected everything back and bolted it down........now it won't move at all....................................T aking it to dealer tomorrow.(hands thrown up in air) Details to come.

you are correct sir,

the tech. said that when he unplugged my seat that everything came back online. He then took the seat out and there was a loose pin in one of the connectors. He seemed to think that there was more to it, but I think that's pretty substantial. When I drove it over to get gas, the power doors wouldn't work so I took it back and he scanned it and it had a ton of codes. But then he said that he didn't clear them when he repaired it, which sucked. So he cleared out all the error codes and said to bring it back if it acted up and he could scan it and then isolate the problem. Since then it's worked perfectly Hope this helps. Also, my driver door wouldn't open sometimes and I would have to keep pressing it to get it to open, then of course when you press it like two times or whatever you lock it. then after a while I could open it. I thought maybe it's a trick and I just haven't learned it yet, but the pass. door opened perfectly almost everytime. So I checked with my dealer about the door pad. Thinking the worst.....he was even shocked at how inexpensive they are. $23/ea and they are the same for each door. So if your door is acting up, change out the pressure sensitive pad.
