Default LIDAR / Flat Paint

I saw a picture of a vette with the whole nose painted in a flat black paint. I am guessing this is to help absorb LIDAR. I think it was on the Procharger website. Does anyone have info. about laser-absorbing paints? In Texas, they are EVERYWHERE with their laser guns, so every little bit helps...

once upon a time there was a spray on bugshield that supposedly would stay in one piece and protect from bugs/road debris untill the owner of the car took it to a car wash and removed it with the high pressure spray.......haven't seen it on the shelves anywhere and it definately wouldn't absorb any laser.....but the picture would look the same. It was flat black and was basicly a rubberized spray that didn't fully adhere to painted surfaces. I heard that there were problems with it and it was taken off the market.

I wouldn't confuse the import trend of the flat black paints on hoods and primered nose pieces with radar absorbing paint. The paint in use on stealth aircraft is thousands of dollars a quart and is a military trade secret. Laser is color blind for the most part and it is material and surface angle that will reflect laser, not necessarily color.

Flat Black paint was busted by Mythbusters on the Discovery Channel. (and all the other myths for radar and laser)

- foil wrap
- unit that "lowers" your actual speed
... to name a few

Just happened to catch it.

That's one reason, in TX, they want use to have a front plate to aim at. If you don't have a plate they can just get you for that anyhow...
