NCM delivery payment timing question
My coupe will be delivered on March 3rd at the NCM. My dealer called today and wants me to go over tomorrow, 2/19, and complete some paperwork. I know I need to pay prior to delivery and show up with a bill of sale in hand. How long prior to delivery does this typically occur? They did not indicate anything about payment, but I want to be prepaired with your knowledge in case they ask for something in the next couple of days. thanks

There's at least a 2 week hold from production to NCM delivery and I would expect the dealer would want to be paid when it is produced. That would mean this week. You might get an extra week if the dealer is handling the title and registration since you need ownership papers to get those. If he is doing it, he might give you and extra week knowing he can get it done fast in the last week.

well, I don't like to disagree on this with anyone, but my local dealer I paid 5 days before I picked it up at the Museum. that was 11 days after it was produced.
if you can, tell them you'll bring over a check a week before your pick up date.

In my past two NCM delivery experiences bought thru Ken Fichtner, final payment should not occur with your dealer until the car is actually built and the GM invoice sent to your dealer. The invoice is usually sent electronically to the dealer within a day or so after the car comes off the assembly line. Once the invoice is in your dealer's hands, then that is the time to finalize the paperwork and for you to make final payment on the outstanding balance.
