Default Ordering question. How long does it take?

How long does it take to get a Corvette after you order it? I have heard 8-10 weeks from a dealer, but I just wanted to be sure that is a realistic number.

The real question I guess is ....

By when do I need to order it to be sure to get an '08 and not an '09? It HAS to be an '08. I would explain why, but most of you would think I was crazy just know that it's a superstition of mine. Basicly, there are a lot of things with 2s, 4s, and 8s that are happening around April and I just wanted to make sure an April order would for Sure be an '08. See, strange isn't it. I know, just please somebody tell me I'll get an '08 with an April order.

Thanks,
Steven Rogers

I ordered mine right after Thanksgiving and the car was produced on 1/9/08. Keep in mind, there was a shutdown from 12/24/07-1/2/08. BTW, I used Rick Daniel @ Les Stanford (forum dealer)

I thought I read the last orders for '08 were in late May??? the normal time from order is now down to about 6 weeks or less. And it does depend if you get Museum delivery which is an option.

I'll look for the last order date on here. It looks like it's Apr. 25. See post #1 here: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...ght=order+date

The most recent info we received is that April 25 is the last day to order an '08. Check out the table here:

I ordered mine on 1/14 and it was built 2/11. The actual order date was 1/17 since GM processes all orders on Thursday.
If you do Museum delivery you can pick it up two weeks after build day. If not, trucking should be about two weeks to TN so that makes it 6-7 weeks after order depending on what day you order and when the car is sequenced. This is all assuming your dealer has an allocation. If they can't produce a printout of the GM Order WORKBENCH showing an event code greater then 2000 the first Thursday after you order, they don't have an allocation and you need to move on to a dealer who does.

I ordered my 08 on 11-7-07, it was built 12-10, and the drop ship to Oregon arrived 12-20. Make sure the dealer you order from has an allocation date that suits your needs. I ordered from Tommy Jr. at McMulkin and he was great to deal with.

Depending upon the dealer and the allocations that they have it can be 10 weeks to 10 months under normal circumstances. As has been indicated the last order date for 2008 production cars is April 25. Which all Corvettes ordered will be produced by June 20. If you are sure that your dealer has an allocation you can use those dates with confidence and make your decision. I'd be sure that they do in fact have an allocation for a new order left for this year.

I sent him an e-mail asking about allocations. I mean, If not, it's not the end of the world. That would just make me relax a little about selling my '05.

I am looking for some answers as well. I ordered my 08 on 10/22 and expected delivery at that time was 3rd week of Feb. Well I contacted the dealer last week and they have no idea, not even a projected date. I am in Wisconsin which is covered in snow, but it would be good if I had some additional details.

Well, He e-mailed me back. He said his next allocation will be with in the next 3 weeks. So, that'll be fine.

I ordered from Tommy Jr @ MacMulkin on Jan 25th I'm picking it up Feb 28!!

I'd call the dealer & see what event code your at & hope your still not at 1100! If so I'd check with Tommy or one of the other dealers. Tommy Jr gave me a great price & everything has gone very smooth!!
