Default Battery post removal

How do I remove the positive battery post? After I loosened the nut, there's a tab that goes across the terminal which holds it tight. I tried prying on the tab but it wouldn't budge. Didn't want to snap anything so I stopped. Is there a trick to this?

Just loosen the nut and lift. Maybe work the connector back and forth a little if its stuck.

You don't need to mess with the "tab".

Wiggle it back and forth, you'll get plenty of practice, unless you're one of the lucky ones!

You will need a hacksaw to remove the post, but the cable terminal is removed as stated.

Thanks for the info. I loosened the nut but I guess I didn't wiggle the connector enough. It was still tight so I thought the tab had something to do with keeping it on still.

I'd use a hacksaw but I'm plumb out of blades-have to make a special trip to Orchard Supply.....

I wish I could get mine "too tight to move"... my positive terminal will swivel on the battery post. Have plans to replace at the Dealer next service trip...

Don't listen to the smart alec. A hammer and chisel will work just fine.

Once the nut is loosened, rotate the cable around the post both ways a little. This will loosen it.
