Default seat memory not working, help

I have a 2006 MN6 LT3 coupe.

When I get in my Vette I hit the #1 memory recall button to get my seat and steering wheel back into my driving position since I use the easy exit feature that slides the seat backwards and the steering wheel forward you so to exit the car. This also set the radio stations and other things from its memory.

9 out of 10 times everything works normally.
But every few days I'll get in, hit the #1 button and everything sets except that the seat does not come forward. I have to manually hit the driver seat adj level to bring the seat forward. The steering wheel moves into position but the seat does not move.
Hitting the #1 buttion mulitiple times does nothing.
If I start the car, exit and come back in, it works fine the next time.

Then a couple of days go by and deja vue, all over again.
The dealer has looked at it twice when I've had the car in and all they say is they can't duplciate it so they can't do anything. It looks fine to them.

Electrical issues? computer? Anyone ever see this or have any ideas what I should try?

Appreciate any advice.

Chris

Make sure your emergency brake is pulled and set or the memory will not work.

For the manual tranny, isn't the parking brake only required if the engine is on when the driver pushes the memory recall button?

Maybe the OP was pushing the memory button sometimes with the engine on, sometimes with the engine off.

I've had repeated instances of the same problem in my '05. The service department replaced the "memory module" - that fixed it for a month or two, then the problem returned. I then disconnected / reconnected the wires inder the seat with the same temporary result. Most recently, the dealer pulled the seat and said they found a pinched wire. They repaired the wire and reinstalled the seat and all was fine for around 6 weeks but the problem returned intermittently roughly 2 weeks ago. It sounds like whatever the problem is, you and I are both experiencing it. I'm at a loss as to how to get a permanent resolution. Let's keep each other posted.

Nope. Even with my engine off, the parking brake must be set before my seat will go to the "Exit" position. Truthfully, I haven't tried using the "1" or "2" buttons without the brake being set.

I think he's asking about driving position. Work the same way?

Owner's manual indicates you only have to have parking brake set if engine is on in order to set driving position. Maybe the book instruction is incomplete.

Yes my break is set. Clearly set.

Remember too the steering wheel moves back into position, the radio sets, etc. It only the seat that does not move. Since everything else but the seat sets, I assume the memory function is actually being activate properly by me. (Yes, user error can be an issue at times but in this case my logic tells me that I'm doing it right).

I've experienced the same problem with my 05 A4. First, the memory went completely out - seat, steering wheel, everything. The dealer replaced the memory module and that fixed it for a while. Then the seat intermittently would not return to its position. However, it's worked fine for the last few months. I'm not going to take it back to the dealer until there's a complete failure.

Same problem here with my '07. Intermittently works fine then occasionally everything works but the seat setting. I reprogram it and again it works fine for a while then starts the problem all over again! And I really don't want to take it the dealer for this but since it's about to pi$$ me off I may have to.

Me too. My 05' has been doing the same thing. Since they don't know how to fix it anyway, I'd rather they don't pull things apart and make it worse. I've gotten use to it now.

First, this problem is relatively common. Second, the driver is doing nothing wrong. Third, it is not the seat control module. I had this issue on my '07 and never got it fixed.

However, given that any movement of the seat manually is enough to then allow normal operation with the memory button, my guess is that it is the sensor on the seat motor. (Note that it is always the fore-aft motion that doesn't work properly.) It just 'forgets' where it is in the travel. Replacing the seat motor assembly _should_ fix the problem. My dealer was about to try this when I traded my car in.

Mine has the same problem.....but it's the only problem I've had in 15k miles so I count myself lucky.

This is a very VERY common issue with the 3LT cars, myself included. When I brought mine to the dealer they said they would try to replace the memory module.

I opted not too since I had already taken the car in 11 other times for various issues and this one was so minor it wasn't worth the effort... that and I knew from reading on here it wouldn't fix the problem permanently.

I think it's funny that when you go to the service department (at least from my experience) it always seems like it's the first time they've ever heard of the problem when you know they must get quite a few each year.

Unfortunately I haven't heard of a definite permanent fix for it.

Default change track?

When I'd get into my Manual car I'd press 1 and sometimes the seat would just nudge a bit and stop. If I moved the seat with the manual button on the side and then pressed 1 again it would go to the correct position.

I waited until the seat did not movie to the correct position to take it to the dealer so they could see it themselves since I knew it would work fine if I just left the car :-)

Anyway the technician replaced the seat tracks and the it's been working fine since then.

Similar issue here. When it happens I also get an intermittent window indexing up and down constantly. My service guy said that the computer is confused and needs to be reflashed. I'm hesitant to do that. But I've learned that it happens when the brake isn't set and/or I've opened the door gotten out and then back in without shutting the door in the interim. When I get back in and shut the door the horn beeps at me and the seat memory does not work and the window starts indexing up and down, up and down. If I drive off the window stop but in the down position but will index up after about 2 or 3 minutes. What I've learned is that if I get out and shut the door, allow it to lock itself and then I unlock it, open and get in , everything works just fine! the seat memory, no window indexing or any other weird $hit. Everything just works. I don't think this is the problem the OP is having but if anyone else is experiencing what I am, then maybe this will work for you. If not, post your fix.

Default Same issue

Ok, so I'm having the same issue, but I'm at work, so I can't go out to verify the things that just came to mind. Has anyone tried locking and unlocking there car with the key fob? while in the car? I was wondering if that would reset things. I did notice that when I pressed the 1 button, or 2 button, the name would change on the DIC, even though the seat wouldn't move. Just something else to consider while everyone is trying to figure this out. I know I'm frustrated with it.
