GM employee discount on parts?
Does GM not give employee discounts on parts? I called 1-800-433-6961 and they said you have to be in a state where they have warehouses. Anyone know if GM gives discounts to employees at dealers, and how you go about getting it?

I don't believe that you can just go to any dealership and request parts at GM employee discount prices by showing some GM credential.

You will have to deal directly with the warehouse to get a GM employee discount. Not sure if they will ship you parts or not but it would not hurt to ask.......

I don't think they've done that for a number of years. I used to get employee discounts at the dealerships for any part they used, but like I said, many years ago, back in the 70's and early 80's.

The parts folks have access to a price that is for GM employees (that is, they know what the number is). If you have a good relationship with your dealer, they will generally try to match any on-line price quote you have.
I recently bought several items at my local dealer, and they matched the Fred Beans price for all but one. As it turned out, we had a mis-communication, and that item was a Z06 spoiler rather than a standard spoiler. There is a local warehouse, so the parts are available the same day, in general.
Never hurts to ask...

examine at the dealer, reject it if need be, and have them reorder another one...or two...or three...as the case may be!

My gf works at a dealership. If I remember correctly she pays 10% over list price for parts and gets a labor rate of $45 per hour. When talking to the parts guy try to get a look at the computer screen when he is bringing up parts. You will see a couple prices. What the dealer pays and I guess it would be considered the MSRP.

Nine years later. And for accessories, not parts.

As an authorized AC Delco distributor with a few warehouses, I've never heard of an employee discount on our end. I'm sure you can find pretty good deals on line if you look.
