Default LED Interior Mod help

So I just finished my first mod (swapping out the C6 clutch assist spring for the C5--I can smoothly shift first to second every time now! all that tension was just more than my foot could reliably hold still and let out at the proper pace). Psyke!

Okay, so this Spring Break I also want to get started on my next project, the Interior LED swapout. I have, of course, been putting in my time with this monstrous thread, and I plan to start small (just replacing the reading lamps in the mirror at first).

However, I don't know what size/type LEDs I need to put there. Does anyone have a list (or know where I can find a list) of all the lights (type, size) and resistors I'd need for the C6? I've found several for the C5, but don't know what the C6 needs.

Thanks!

let me get a little more helpful

i used these resistors:
http://www.alltronics.com/cgi-bin/it...DCF%2DResistor

3mm leds from here:
http://abctronics.com/abcTronicsPric...mm_and_5mm.htm

these are the results:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1911750

post 560 here is where i start:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...588861&page=28

third set of pics on post 603

some differences with the C5s, basiclly use the tutorial from www.spdkilz.com the door panels come off to access the lock buttons and window controls. the traction control button is too small so i leftit alone just colored the bulb blue, same with the door release buttons. the radio uses surface mount LEDs i dont recomend trying to remove them, eventually ill run el wire behind the buttons to make the radio match the HVAC, for the radio i just colored the bulbs with a sharpie.

issues: i ran into problems with the lights not turning on, i eventually narowed it down to the fact that i removed my light sensor and tricked it into thinking its daylight (eliminates autoheadlights) but also prevents interior lights form coming on, so i had to put that back to normal. also when you convert the courtesy lights and map lights to LED they wont fully shut off, the car will dim them way down but they will glow ever so dimly, the fix is to place one origional bulb in series with the leds, i put the bulb in some old radiator hose to prevent heat transfer and stuck it up begind the glove box, with the thick plastic it wont even get warm, the lights dim and shut off like normal.

suggestions: well for one i did this over winter break in 20* temps - sucked your smart to do it now, just take your time and take pics or take notes of where stuff goes, this was my first major under taking with the vette and didnt want bolts left over. it costs a little more but buy those Blue led bulb replacements for taillights, look in the sport compact section, i ended up using those in my trunk. as for the foot wells id reocmend a bar of lights not a cluster for a more even glow, i may do this next winter but now its time to just enjoy.

please if you have issues PM me goodluck its going to look great,

oh btw what color are you going with?

Wow thanks dude! Will PM after I digest some of all that.

For the color, I'm not totally decided. I want to do the reading lamps first so I can try it out--I want to do ultraviolet, but I've read in some threads that they are not bright enough. If I decide that's true for me, I'll go with blue.

I remember seeing your thread up a while ago--sweet car, man!

IMO if you want to retain the stock feel just upgrade i would go with white, the leds will be crisper and brighter, defineately a nice touch. if you lokoing for the modded look blue rocks. contact Vette1171, he in texas and is the first that i know of to do this mod sucessfully, maybe he can give you a hand.

the rear view mirro comes off by unplugging the connector and twisting the base 90* clockwise, on the bench use a flate clade screw driver to pry apart, once apart bring back into car, plug in connector and use a volt meter to find which of the two leads are positive, touch both terminals, if the volt meter reads 12.5 or any + number the wire your rear lead is connected two is the positive, if your meter reads a negative # then the black lead is your positive

Do the UVs look white (like stock)? I imagined they'd shine through as purple.

Well by UV I meant 'blacklight;' we had a few blacklight bulbs around the house when I was younger and those looked purple--but then again, that was by looking directly at the bulb, and I don't know the light from them would shine through buttons and so forth because I don't know if they're placed basically up against the inside of the buttons or a ways away.

go to autolumination.com and find the 194 size superstar bulbs. Get the ones with the heat sink and you'll be fine. They are all plug and play with built in resistors. <--- thats for the mirror anyways. He recommended the other types to use for the different application but search his name or find the thread I started and he has pics of which ones he has used (plug and play)

2LT-Z51 has done this and has posted pics in a thread I started.

I would do the plug and play for the ones that you can do that way. I've already ordered all LED replacement bulbs for the interior and once I find the courage I'll be taking apart my dash, etc. to repl. all the other ones with leds+resistors as well.

but thats just my 2cents

So the spring is harder on the C6?

yep, harder spring. some go without it and some put the c5 spring in. I personally went without it and have zero problems as well as with others. its really however you like it.

This is on the pedal? And you just took it out completely?

yah I hate to change topics here so I'd say do a search but if you look under the dash you'll see a spring on the clutch pedal. Some chose to live with it some choose to switch to C5 and some like me choose to do without it. I've had no problems and neither have any others.

Anyways, back on topic. I've emailed the company and those bulbs are direct plug and play with resistors built in so they don't drain the battery. Once I get em I'll take some pics but you can find some of 2LT-Z51's in a thread I started a lil bit ago.
