My '05' is leaving a spot of water (red w/antifreeze) on the garage floor when I park it. Looked under the hood yesterday and it is getting on the pulleys, noticed a small squeel when I started it yesterday as well. It looks like it's coming from up high and dropping onto the pulley's, then to the floor. Only happens after cooldown. I haven't had to add any water yet. Anyone have any idea where this may be coming from? Hoping it's not serious.
When it's cool, run a pressure test on the coolant system. I assume there is some adapter that will connect to it. You should see coolant seeping out of the problem area.
The squeal is probably the wet belt slipping. I look closely at the water pump.

The reason it shows after shut down is the pressure increases in the radiator. Have you changed the thermostat? If not most likely W/P.
How many miles on the Vette?
Just over 16,000 miles. I just looked again and I would think it might be the water pump. Hose connections all look fine. I did get an extended warrenty so it might pay off here. Thanks.
Just an update to those that might be interested, it was a water pump that went bad. Just got a call from the dealer and they should have it done today. I would think that job is worth about half the price of my GMPP. Glad I bought it.

Glad to hear it was something simple. And just think as an extra benefit, you just got a cooling service under GMPP since they will have to replace the coolant after replacing the water pump.

Good move on the GMPP. But 16,000miles on the car and a bad water pump, that's just wrong on this age of car.
Glad they found the problem and got it fixed quickly. Don't hear of many water pumps going out on these cars, especially with that low mileage. Hopefully it's just a freak problem.
Yea, the dealer thought it was a little freak too. But a seal can go anytime. I haven't seen anyone else talking about water pump problems so I'd guess it's an isolated case. Should be good to go for a long time now. It was finished last night and I'll get it back today. 72 degrees, the top will be off when I leave the dealership.
