What is a reasonable price for a transparent roof? I came across a C6 owner selling a slightly used roof for $800 and his price is firm. I am not sure what the going rate is on one of these roofs.
That's not a bad price esp if it's in good condition, I think. I thought I read that new, list price is almost double, and most retail on new is about 1000-1200, if you can even find it at the lower price.
Normally, I'd much rather go for 50% off new, tho. That's just me.
Don't know if Melrose tops (same one who makes headers, too) makes one for C6 (probably by now they do), but they are one of the best aftermarket on other gen Corvettes. Might ck their site and see if they have a price for new.
I'm sure you know this, but as per a recent thread, ck for "chips." Or, even little nicks around the edges. Being somewhat bulky (but not heavy), these things tend to get either dropped or banged around on first removal/installation. Even tho I've got a drop-top now, I recall working with the things on my other ones.
Thanks guys, need to look before jumping as condition being the key and Bill got you on the damages as these tops usually do get nicked. I know I almost dropped my top when I first removed it.
No, HKIL, I don't own one but in C4 their tops are very highly respected. And that is in stark contrast to other top mfrs. (who are not held in high esteem). And as you know (assumption on my part), the twist and flex of the C4s was pretty extreme but their tops were considered superior.
i beleive I saw MidAmerica Motorworks has new transparent roofs for sale for $800 or so...just got the catalog yesterday and remember this when i was flipping thru it
