Default New Order Sequence

Ordered a new coupe on 2/25 and the following Thursday
received a call from the salesperson giving me a letter
sequence that was the initial order identifer. Was promised
more info the following Thursday and was told yesterday that
she was having computer problems with more info on my order.

I have no clue as to the sequence of the ordering process
or how I can check up on how the order is going or if
it even has happened. I asked the dealer if they had the
allowances for my car and was positively informed that they
did. I've heard horror stories of "low balling" et where cars
are never ordered. I sincerely doubt that this is the case
here but is there a way on the computer that I can check
my order out?

I know I'm just getting impatient and "kicking the stall" some.
Thanks,
Craig

Order status codes:
1100 = Preliminary Order (Order passed GM edit tables but dealers has not received allocation to place order)
2000 = Accepted By GM (Dealer used allocation to place order into production)
2500 = Preferenced (Order pulled to the production system)
3000 = Accepted By Production Control (Order input into the production system)
3100 = Sequenced (Order sequenced for Production)
3300 = Scheduled For Production (Order is scheduled into the plant build cycle)***
3400 = Broadcast (Order is sent to various build & supplier areas to bring order together)
3800 = Produced (Order is built and VIN# shows in the Dealer Order system now)
4150 = Invoiced (Order is invoiced to the dealer)
4200 = Shipped (Vehicle is shipped to the dealer or point of delivery)
5000 = Delivered To Dealer
6000 = Delivered To Customer

First, you have an order number, probably six letter/numbers beginning with M. Next, you can ask your dealer/salesperson about the status event code, above.

Next, depending on when you ordered, actual day of the week, if they do in fact have an "allocation" not allowance, the order will go in by the following week. A Thursday I believe (I know I'll be corrected if wrong).

Eventually, you will get a TPW, Target Production Week, which means it will be built/completed sometime during that Mon. thru Fri.

All told, if your dealer really has an allocation, your car from day of ordering to week it's produced should take anywhere from 4-6/7 weeks.

Then, there is the wait to get it trucked to your dealer, again, depending on where he is.

You can't look up anything on your computer. Only your dealer can on his computer.

If you want to read more about this process, look at the top of C6 Gen where there are FAQ and Stickys.
Also look at Ken Fichtner's forum.

At one time, other dealers, including forum dealers, could take that 6-character order number you got and look it up in the GM system to find out the status event code of your order. That's changed, and now, only the ordering dealer can look it up.

Some dealers who don't get many allocations will take your order and not tell you that they won't have an allocation for the next few weeks. The only thing you can do is ask them when their next allocation is and is that for your order.

As much as the dealer is making off your car, he should answer your request for information, both for when he'll get the allocation for your car and what the current status event code is for your order.
