Default Non Mechanical Guy Wants Headers - Problems?

Guys,

I'm definitely getting a Borla Stinger exhaust, CAI which I guess are no big deal for any shop to add. However, I wanted to get Kooks Headers for my C6 Vert and wanted to ask if this was completely SAFE, meaning I'll never have to worry about any problems with the car by doing this, OR is it risky or what should I worry about? (Like potential problems or things that can happen/break)

Nothing inherently dangerous about adding headers - nothing will necessarily break or go bad.

BUT, you need to understand the following:

1. Powertrain warranty is gone unless you're willing to use a dealer that is willing to lie to GM about a warranty repair.
2. If you live in a state with emissions testing, you will automatically fail - there are no "legal" headers - that's why they all say "off-road use" on them.
3. They will make the car significantly louder, esp. with the Borlas on the car.

If you can accept all this, then go ahead and enjoy!

I installed Kooks on my 07 several months back. Along with the tune to take care of the check engine light, there are a couple of things to look for. Exhaust leaks from the system is the first thing. As per Kooks, after the system gone through several heat and cool cycles, I had to retorque all the bolts. I periodically look for exhaust leaks when I am under the car for an oil change. I have found a minor leak from where the cats and the xpipe connect. What I am trying to say is it isn't stock and may require some attention every so often. I love my headers....and I don't even want to think about the emmisions test here in about 2 or 3 years. But until then, no regrets.

Florida doesn't test for emissions so I'm good there.
