Default Need help/advice on ebrake boot installation

I just bought red/ebony leather console, shift boot & ****, and e-brake boot & **** from DSVettes to match my seats and steering wheel.

I have some problems with the e-brake boot installation.

1. There are 2 brass colored metal clips attached to the plastic collar at the base of the boot and well as 2 plastic tabs. When I removed the e-brake boot, one metal clip stayed on the collar, and one came off and is stuck in the fixed structure. See 1st pic.

2. Although I saw the metal clip that remained, I was apparently less than observant that there was a metal clip attached at the other end of the stock boot collar that I should have removed and attached to the new one. See 2nd pic.

3. I installed the new boot, slid new **** on and attached the **** with original screw. Then I installed the e-brake button into the ****. When I tested the button to make certain I installed it correctly, I moved the e-brake lever and the boot which I thought was secure, came undone and broke one of the plastic tabs on the plastic collar. See 3rd pic showing one tab missing.

Questions:
a. Can I just use some crazy glue to reattach the plastic tab?
b. Anyone have suggestions in how to remove stuck metal clip?

Crazy glue will never hold. Do you have two of those plastic collars (one with the new boot (now broken) and one with the old)? If so, can you take the old one apart and attach the new boot to the old collar?

For removal of the metal clip - wrestle it out with needle nose pliers. You'll see how it just slides onto the plastic collar piece.

Good luck with that.

Honestly, those black plastic tabs do less than you think. When everything is installed, they actually are kinda loose by the nature of their design. The real hold-me-down is in fact the brass clip piece. Super glue would likely never hold. The clip that is stuck you just use needle nose to get a hold of as mentioned. Then put it together and see how it feels. Still sucks that this happened though. I have had many similar things happen to me at one point or another in my life so you aren't alone.
