The thing I dislike most about CF is the number of people who can't resist making snarky comments.
To the OP: I have been using plain deerskin work or gardening gloves. These are about $15. I've been shopping online for some better driving gloves but haven't ordered any yet. It's hard for me to get a good fit so I hesitate to commit the funds, but maybe I'll try some of those Jim Clark gloves. He sure was my hero when I was a boy.
Hatch NS430 Specialist shooting gloves.... You can pick up a dime, incredible grip, comfort, breath....Perfect for a shooting a Beretta or driving a C6 or anything else you drive... The ultimate everthing glove.
Try them and you will have several pairs!
Unless you are racing you are holding the wheel too tight. There is no need to do that today and your hands and arms will get tired.
You obviously have not driven on roads with HUGE troughs in them. I-5 in Washington has a several stretches driving down to Oregon where it can yank your car from one lane into the next one when you are driving a car with wide low-profile tires. I can only drive with one hand on the wheel since my second hand is on my hand controls; when I get out of Washington, my right hand (the hand on the wheel) aches from gripping the wheel so hard. Am I overgripping? Maybe, but I've had various cars (2003 vette, 2002 SS Camaro, 2008 vette) pulled quite suddenly almost into the lane next to me.
I think driving gloves make you look like a cool, wanna be race car driver. Like a cowboy with no cattle. But, my Grandpa used to say that if everyone liked the same thing, they would all want to kiss Grandma...so if you like em, more power to you.
Nonsense! Some may wear driving gloves for the coolness factor. Not me. I wear them for the comfort they provide, especially, the open ones that absorb perspiration and provide excellent grip - that's all.
I have a cheap $20 pair of lambskin ones I use right now in my Saab (the Stickshift was giving me a blister), and I just bought a new pair for the Corvette. Only because the current set is showing its age.
I wear them for the comfort and for the fact that I have sweaty hands. My dad used to comment on how my Malibu steering wheel was always a bit sticky.
