I need to hookup battery tender to charge dead battery and discovered the remote terminals recommended in manual for jumping and am now confused on what terminals to use for tender hookup, any suggestions?
If you are just charging this one time, the clamp on type will work fine. Might take awhile to charge a dead battery though with a tender. Don't put out much. For storage and ease of connection, put on the eyelet connectors when you have time. Keep it plugged in when not driving.
For charging, I would hook directly to the battery if it was me, either set of terminals will work fine.
I use the permenent connectors that came with my CTEK 3300. One (the red one) goes to the fuse box connection, I just put another washer and nut on it. The black ground I put on the frame down in front of the fuse box. There is a silver threaded screw coming up from the frame. You can see at least two other ground wires connected to it. Again, I just added my connector on top of these and attached it with another washer and nut. It works great. I've been using it since December when I got delivery of my VR coupe. Just plug and unplug when you need it or not.
if your battery is dead, battery tender may not restore your dead battery. battery tender will maintain your battery, but will not charge a dead battery, you may have to get a new battery, probably not a bad idea////
I would jump start your battery first by connecting the jumper cable clamps directly to the bettery terminals (make sure all accessories - radio; CD; HVAC are off). Once started, drive the car around for at least 1/2 an hour, longer preferably to get the battery fully charged. After putting car away, attach Battery Tender cables to underhood fuse block, attaching postive clamp to positive terminal; negative to engine manifold bolt or other ground. You should be good to go...as long as you get a steady Green light on the Tender within 24 hours. If you don't, time for a new battery.
