Default Funny Visor Warning

Has anyone noticed that the warning on the visor states that children should ride in the back seat? I spent all day looking and I can't find this so called back seat. Just thought someone else might find the humor in this generic warning label.

Yeah, my wife noticed it today. I told her if we have kids, I'd just throw them in the trunk.

Yes, it's been noted here before. But even though it's been awhile, we haven't tried to throw our kids in the back seat.

When I had my C5, I told my wife that we could put the baby in a carseat in the back in the "moon shot" position

The same warning label has been on Vettes since at least 1997. (Not sure about the C4 era). Good example of inflexible bureaucracy...

Either that or simple cost savings. I, for one, am glad they use a standard one for all their cars. It helps keep the cost down, and it's about the last thing in the interior I'd improve (not that I think the interior is bad).

I also think it's hilarious that in the same manual that talks about keeping the kids safest in the back seat it also tells you to reduce the tire pressure if you're going to make extended runs over 175MPH (I guess that quick bursts are OK).

So if I craft a back seat for my vette and lower my tire pressure, can I safely take my kid with me on the 175+ MPH runs?

Use a hairdryer to heat up the decals and soften the glue.

Peal off.

Use 'Goo Be Gone' or similiar to remove remaining glue.

No more dumb *ss decals.

THANKS NOW YOU TELL US I just now ordered a set of those black out stickers from Steve. Oh well, I'll use them if I can't get all the glue off.

Removing those stickers was my first mod. That was over two years ago and you can still see a slight difference to the visor where the stickers were, but even so it looks 1,000% better.

What the sticker means is the back seat of another vehicle!

Er, that's increase your tire pressures for high-speed operation!

You sure? That is counterintuitive. I would think lowering the pressure and allowing the high speeds to raise the tire to operating pressure would be better than adding air which would cause even higher pressures during the run.

Definitely ADD air...

Quote from page 389:

If you will be driving your vehicle at speeds of
175 mph (282 km/h) or higher, where it is legal, set
the cold inflation pressure to the maximum inflation
pressure shown on the tire sidewall, or
38 psi (265 kPa), whichever is lower. See the
example following. When you end this high-speed
driving, return the tires to the cold inflation pressure
shown on the Tire and Loading Information label.
See Loading Your Vehicle on page 307.
Example:
You will find the maximum load and inflation
pressure molded on the tire’s sidewall, in small
letters, near the rim flange. It will read something
like this: Maximum load 690 kg (1521 lbs)
300 kPa (44 psi) Max. Press.
For this example, you would set the inflation
pressure for high-speed driving at
38 psi (265 kPa).
Racing or other competitive driving may affect the
warranty coverage of your vehicle. See your
warranty booklet for more information.
