Navigation CD Update
My new 2007 A6 is equipped with the Navigation system & I just got it 1/25/2008. The DVD for the GPS maps that I got with the car is Version 3.00.
Question #1 What is the latest / current DVD Version number?
Question #2 is My window says I get 2 free map updates of the DVD. How do I go about getting the DVD upgrade and from where? Is there an 800# I can call?
Question #3 What is the latest date that I can get the 2nd DVD? Is it at the 36 month of the warrantee?
Please help.

The latest version, received by me around the beginning of this year, has TWO dvds. The infor with them says that each dvd has all the road infor for the entire country, but the east-west dvds have the infor about POI's, etc.

Thanks for all the good information. I called GM this morning, gave my I.D. #s and will get an updated version 
, which is back ordered and I should recieve mine in 4 to 6 weeks and another one next year. So thanks again for the help. This site rocks.

Can't you just get another person who has version 4 to make a copy for you or are these protected in some way? It's like a 5 minute process and I cannot believe something this easy to create is on back order...Wow. Maybe it's not legal either

The Nav DVD's are copyrighted and copying, even for personal use is illegal. Do a search on this forum and you'll find that someone who is much smarter than me has found a way around the copyright and made the ISO for East and West available to download. It will probably require a rocket scientist to make it work but I'm sure there's a few smart folks online here.

I just got off the phone with them. If you have a 2005 model and it is GM certified pre-owned then you get the latest copy for FREE. It normally ships within 60 days of purchase, but I told her I never got it, and so I am faxing proof of purchase to them tomorrow.

The v 3.0 disc is only one disc, DVD Double Layer and very easy to copy...not protected. The 4.0 is 2 discs, East and West, and is in two torrents here:

I haven't received my update 4.0 discs yet so don't know if they are DL discs or single. Single blank media is much less expensive than DL, and less finicky also. Realistically there is nothing they can do to keep it from being copied...lots of technology out there and probably not worth the extra expense for the manufacturer to try to lock it down anyway.

FWIW - Just ordered my first update for my '07 and was told it would arrive via UPS in 5 to 7 business days.

I just called this number and ordered my "free" update disk. You do NOT have to wait to receive a card in the mail; however, the disks are currently on back order with no ETA from GM on the arrival date.
