Default Idiot Tailgaters

I know this has been discussed plenty, but I just needed to release some

Why in the hell do people have to ride people's **** in stop and go traffic where there is NO WHERE to go anyway????? Yesterday I went to a car meet, and after I left the traffic was very heavy down the 4 lane 40mph road trying to get back to the interstate. I must have had 5or 6 arseholes that were so close to my **** I couldn't see their headlights.I saw two wrecks caused by some of these M@$#*S, and became quite nervous about getting hit before I could get home. What the hell are these people thinking? Because you are in a Vette you should be GOing faster and out of their way??Are they just trying to **** you off because you have a Vette and they don't???
Makes me want to get out and strangle one of these M$@%^&(&^%^

Strangling one of them would just tie up traffic worse, there really is nothing you can do as it happens all the time, I hate to say they are all idiots but something is wrong with them. Rant on the forum as you have is probably the best way to deal with it.

I'm with you on this one! Too many drivers out there who are depending on everyone else to not get them in an accident!!! Also, I am amazed at the number of people driving with one hand because they have a cell phone in the other. I pulled up along side a lady at a red light the other day....she was talking on her cell phone, smoking a cigarette and putting on makeup....at the same time! Unbelieveable!

the vette has nothing to do with it - the other two wrecks you saw, were they vettes that had been hit from behind?? or just other cars? that is how people drive, they follow too closely

I hate it too! It's especially bad for me, because my everyday diver is a truck (6' between me and the rear bumper). So when I'm in the Vette, it feels like people are going to just drive right up my a$$. I always leave plenty of room between me and the car in front to allow me some room to pull up, if I think they're getting too close.

Yes, I do the same, and most of the time it doesn't matter. They will just move up closer to you as you move up.

It's called stupidity. They may or may not realize it's not only illegal, it's also dangerous.

Bill,
Unfortunately, there's really nothing we can do. There's always gonna be alot of jerks out there that just don't give a damn. They love to stop inches from your bumper...they probably get a rush knowing they are pissing off a Vette owner. It's like a game to them. If you move forward, they will move closer.

These are the same folks that will park right next to your Vette even though you parked your car on the far end of the lot which is totally empty and the furthest from the store(s).

I know what you mean.

The other day on my way home from work, I pulled up to a red light. i was going to make a right turn. In the right turn lane with a med sized delivery truck in the lane to my left. I had just stopped and was slowly creeping up so I could see around the big truck when this a^^h*&^ started honking, and pulled up within inches of my car. I had only been stopped for 1 sec.

This pissed me off so I sat there till the light turned green and I could safely turn, very slowly of course. He tried to pass me on the left while I was making the turn!! What an idiot!! Not a chance. i kept him at the posted speed limit for a very long time.

I hate to say this but this has happened to me more often then not. So I leave more room between me and the person in front of me and drive with one eye looking out the windshield and one eye in the rearview mirror. That way should I have to make a sudden stop I have time to slow down the car behind me. At worst I will just pull over and let them go by. I find this same thing happening when I drive my motorcycle, and if I'm hit on the cycle I have a lot less margin of safety. I guess driving my motorcycle has got me doing some habbits that carry over to driving my C6.

Did you ever consider moving over and let them in front of you so you don't keep taking your eye off the busy congested road in front of you to look behind you? This way you don't have to worry anymore.

red light cameras have contributed to rear-end collisions. people are slamming on the brakes in fear of the flash.

I used to have a '94 F250 Ford truck, and it came with a 1 gal tank with a small valve that would open and allow the contents to flow out the rear, under the bumper. It was actuated with a choke-type push-pull cable. When I asked the previous owner what it was for, he said, "Tail-gaters". He would fill it with kerosene, and let it "drip" out the back. The valve was corroded and did not work, but he said it was a great way to retailiate, as it would take a good wash job to remove it from the perp's paint.

Yes, and I do when the traffic is not bumper to bumper, and you can't move anywhere because of it

Or I will just put the hammer down and leave em when it's possible!!!!!!!!!
