Corvette sales are down 25% in February. The factory is running at 100%. Who is stockpilling the cars? Sales are down for the year to date and I can't get a new Corvette built! My car has been on order for three months and I still do not have a production date. I know all about current allocations but something is wrong with the system when sales are depressed but customers can't get the cars.
I agree, you need to find a dealer that prides themselves on doing orders and getting them actually compleated. My guess is your dealer does not have an allocation. If you go to a forum dealer (who are some of the dealers with highest allocations) you should have no problem at all. A buddy of mine bought from Broadway and had a great experience. If you check some of the others out you will hear similar stories so forum dealers are the way to go.
I would hot foot it down to your dealer --they should have production nos. and a build date within a couple weeks of your order? it only takes 4-5 weeks now to get a car produced and add a couple weeks to ship.
I recall when the C6 was first announced my dealer (who at the time was owned by GM) had 36 new C5's in stock. I thought that they would never get rid of them. By the time the first C6's were being shipped (August/ Sept. 04) almost every C5 was sold.
With 6641 cars in stock on dealer lots I'm sure you could find one that suites your taste. I agree with everyone else, I bet your dealer has no allocation. Not to mention I'm sure all the dealers are willing to deal right now as the number of cars on the lots are just getting higher with fewer people buying right now 3 weeks ago the number of cars was only 6560.
I ordered mine from MacMulkin on 2/25 and I picked it up 3/28 for under invoice. I suggest you call Tommy Jr at (603) 888-1121.
Did my order thru Tommy on 23 August, Car was built 27 Sept, and in MY hands on 6 Oct! And it was built during the strike! CALL Tommy and tell you NON-Corvette dealer to pound sand.
same thing happened to me, dealer finally fessed up and told me he did not have the allocation, he told me about....see ya.....

So i went to another non lying dealer, and they had me mine 33 days later. built and i picked up at ncm!!!
your dealer's a jerk like the chev dealer in oneida ny. then he tried to keep my deposit. it was only $100. i got it back
I bought my 08 in August and got $4,200 off MSRP on a 2LT Vert. Today you can do much better. If I was you I would check the forum dealers inventory. I have seen up to 8K off MSRP. If you can find something close to what you want you can get it now and save some money. I don't have an answer to your question, I would think the dealers with allocations are ordering them so they don't loose future allocations. A similar situation occured in the last year of the C4 where dealers bought cars they couldn't sell because they new the C5 was coming and they didn't want to loose allocations. Today's economic situation are hurting sales, but the dealers are betting things will get better soon and they want to have the cars and future allocations. Good Luck
