I was returning from California last week headed back to Sin City and decided to stop and top off, after filling and getting back in, my car did not recognize the fob. I walked away came back tried again, still same response, and there was some kind of noise comming from the dash area. My better half then says she has the other fob in here purse, so we try it and everything works fine, we arrive home and park, and as soon as the garage door is shut I try the other fob again and it works perfectly, has anyone else experinced this.
there have been several threads on the CF about this intermittent problem. most of the time the position of the fob in your pocket, etc and/or other electronic items in or around the car can cause the fob warning. repositioning, etc usually works to resolve. only other item I remember hearing of is a low battery but the DIC usually tells you if it sees a low fob battery.
If both fobs were in the car the conditions may have been "just right", in this case, to confuse the car. You leave with your fob, the car detected your better half's fob then you came back with your fob. Car didn't know what to do with yours but already had the other one locked in so it worked. Dunno for sure, just thinking out loud. I doubt that you have any kind of problem though.
Thanks for the input, I had suspected that maybe my V-1 might be enterfering, it had seen alot of action. all morning long; the CHP was very vigilant along I-15, and I never thought about the other fob sending a signal as well.
Mine has done this twice in the last year... each time, I had left my phone turned on and it was in the cupholder when I got in. Taking the fob from my pocket 'fixed' the issue, and the car started. But it doesn't happen often enough to give a definitive answer as to a cause/effect relationship. I switched to leaving the phone in the map pocket in the door... we'll see if it happens again.
Just a thought...

I can be sitting in the same spot for two hours. When i turn off the car, it would sometimes ask me if i want to run without the FOB. The problem seems to be more common with two keys in the car too
