Default Twin Turbos

Can anyone give an estimate of how much horsepower twin turbos would add to an LS3, Z51, 436HP Corvette engine?

You should post this in the "C6 FI". APS TT is a nice kit. Check out their website (forum vendor). I think they are still working on a kit for LS3.

Turbo Technology's LS3 kit is available for the LS3 and LS7s. Power numbers are dependant on boost level but the kit can go from mild 500 rwhp to 800rwhp+ (Forged motor).

Default I have

a 2000 Camaro SS with Twin turbos. At 5lb of boost on a stock block the RWHP was 486 amd the torque was 493. Stock the SS was 309 RWHP

Ls3 is 430? minus 16% drive train loss = 361 RWHP add about 170 for Turbos and you would be looking at somewhere around: 530 RWHP

That would be my guess

I was told that it would be around 550rwhp on a stock motor from one of the local tuners.

I was looking at the STS turbo setup and they told me with 7 psi about 550-580 at rear wheels. I am leaving mine at stock for now with some bolt-ons.

Keep something in mind, people. All those huge rwhp numbers can only be achieved if you put a big boost into the engine. This "kamikaze" method of forced induction produces a great number and then a great, big "boom" when the engine grenades. The biggest mistake people make with forced induction is trying to wring every last pony out of the engine. The LS2/3 is quite strong, but it cannot go much above 525 rwhp or so without serious reliability issues starting. To get into the upper limits of ponies, you need to really modify the internals. That gets into serious money.

A serious tuner/installer won't allow a customer to reach for the moon on a stock LS-engine. If someone recommends it to you, be very cautious.

Although my C6 is supercharged along with a meth injection kit, I keep my boost at a relatively low 6 PSI. At 525 RWHP, 619BHP it gives me all the excitement I require and hopefully the engine will give the big "boom" a big miss. Now....if I only could get traction

This is a dyno chart of my stock LS2 with an APS kit. This is with a nice safe tune, and I have about 5000 trouble free miles on the car since I installed the turbos. Basically it went from 345 rear wheel hp to a little over 500 rear wheel hp. It is running about 7.5 psi of boost. I would assume maybe 25 more rear wheel hp with an LS3, but as other have said, I don't know if APS has their LS3 kit out yet.

Here is a pic of the engine compartment right after I installed the turbos.

I assure you that at 500rwhp, its anything but mild.

The STS kit for the vette LS3 is a really cool concept.

It's NINE GRAND though. The new self contained superchargers (no punch oil pan) are the way to go IMO.

The other problem with turbos is that tuner "Pop & Whoosh" that the BOVs make. Don't need the "Mad street cred."

My C6 has a Vortech V-2 supercharger on it. I chose this over turbos because of (a) reliability issues with turbos, (b) turbos are more expensive, and (c) turbos require far more plumbing work than a supercharger. I kept the pressure mild (7 psi), and I didn't install headers because I didn't want the noise issues. Doug Rippie did my install. I had about a 45% increase in rwhp with my setup, and I know I left some on the table without the headers, etc. My choice, and I'm happy with it. I wanted more of a GT car than a racer.

I'd look into a supercharger setup as well as the turbos - you may be surprised - they make similar power, are easier to install, are more reliable, and work at lower pressures. Something to consider.

The Bosch Blow Off Valves on the APS kit aren't vented directly to the air, they go back into the intake so there is no Pop and Whoosh. I don't like that either.

If you want Pop and Woosh, you can replace them with Tial Blow Offs, and cap the line back to the intake, and they'll be noisy as heck.

To each their own.
