Z51 package

Z51 package
I currently have a 2002 vette coupe and am ready to buy a new 2008 convertible. Does anyone have an opinion about the Z51 performance package? Is it worth it? Also, is the upgraded exhaust system worth it? Thanks.

Seems like the NPP is a lot of money, for a little added noise, and the 6 H.P. is minimal. -- Of course, I couldn't get it anyway, because I have an 07. -- And, I suppose that, since I'm a member of "The over the hill gang" the noise bothers me more, than some of you. ------------

I bought my 08 Vert. with the Z51 package and love it. It is worth every penny. As for the exhaust I felt I could get an aftermarket exhaust for less or the same and get more hp. Just my thoughts. Good luck in your decision.

I too bought an '07 Z51. I like it. Know that the gas mileage will suffer a little from the non-Z51 models due to the MZ6 vs MM6 transmission differences, if you are getting a manual. Its quite nice to drive and not near as stiff as what you might expect. Not sure which tranny is in the '08's though.. think its different..6060?

Both are worth it, imo. Then again, I have "your" car with those 2 options.

I opted for the Z51, I didnt only want a stiffer ride I wanted the shorter gear ratios for a bit more speed through the gears.
I dont like the NPP exhaust all that much. I stayed stock with that and bought borla stingers axle back for now p/n 11744!
Eventually I plan on some more performance mods like LG's and maybe a procharger!
Hope this helps!

Those options are the only way to fly! The NPP is just super cuopled with Ed's Mild to Wild controller. The wild sounds as good if not better than anyother exhaust, plust slippin up through the gears with the close ratio Z-51 optioned tranny is sports car heaven. If you want a blah blah Corvete then don't get it if you want to experience the Corvette as a world class supercar then get it. It has nothing to do with the 6 HP.........

I have NPP on my 08 coupe. Yes it is worth every penny of what Chevy is asking for it. The factory installed performance exhaust system makes the entire car feel more robust. When you start it up the flaps open fully and you hear and feel the roar from the exhaust. One of the best factory installed options I've ever ordered on a Corvette. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

I've had both. my 05 had the z51 I liked it my girlfriend said its too rough. This time i got the 08 with the base suspension. Now its too soft for the track but I rides almost as good as my 06 SL500 at 1/2 the price! My thoughts. If you want to track the car you'll need something other than the base suspension. BTW The ride with the F55 is stiffer than the base even on the soft setting.

I'll take a bit of a contrary position . . .I wasn't looking for the Z51 package . . but it was on the car I wanted so I have it. I don't track it, so although the car has great handling, I doubt I'd spend much extra to get it.
NPP wasn't an option on my year, so I converted to Billy Boat 66's and love the extra "rumble" . . .
Just depends on what you want and how you intend to enjoy your car. Good luck!
