Default Need advice

Just got the call from the dealer that my new 08 coupe has arrived. Got to the dealership and the seats are wrong. I ordered the 2 tone black and red seats and the car has all red seats. The interior seems to be two-tone (red and black) except for the seats. The dealer has another vette on the lot with the two tone seats and says they can switch the seats. Is this a good idea? Advice appreciated.

There should not be a problem if the color matches, everything is covered under warranty so I would approve the seat swap and that way you get the car and interior you want.

I would hope it is something they could do without any problems. I would let them switch them and make sure there are no issues when they are done. I would not commit to the final purchase until the swap is made and you are satisfied there are no issues.

I would find out who they would have do the work. I recommend an apholsterer who specializes in auto work for auto dealers.

I am assuming the other car is also an 08. I would just make darn sure the reds do match. I had an 05 with "Steel Gray" seats and gat a deal on two-tone covers from an 08. I found out that the 08 Titanium Gray is much different than Steel Gray. I got it all worked out in the end but it cost me more than it should have.

Four bolts and wire connectors that's all that hold the seats in. Its no biggie at all, do the swap.

That's because the only difference in the two interior options are the seats.

except that the orig order and window sticker probably don't specify two tone seats. if originality counts to you.

Let them do the swap and make sure all seats operate correctly before taking possesion of the car. Make sure different seats are covered by warranty.

That's what I was thinking also! Wouldn't bother me any, but some folks might take issue.

That would be my concern also. Down the road alot of potential buyers want everything to match the sticker and VIN. If it doesnt they might think something fishy is going on.

I'd be OK with the swap!! I have the ebony/red two tone & think it looks great!!

What I'm not sure of how can the dealer change the Monroney sticker on the other car!! I think it's OK to add to the vehicle but not take away anything!

I don’t know about you but that would make me mad.

I don’t know what I would do? I guess if you decide to swap the seats, I would make sure everything is perfect before they start and after they finish.

What I’m saying is that not one scratch on the car.

Boy, the more I think about it the more I see problems down the road. I don’t know what could go wrong but how much experience has their service department had in changing seats? It sounds simple but that’s famous last words.

To me, I wouldn’t accept the car or sign off on it until everything is perfect. It would be easy to scratch or scuff something changing out the seats. If they hurt the car, I would order another one. That’s just the way I feel.

I would just start all over. I know that's not what you want to do but that's what I would do

Get a Museum Delivery!

P.S. ... plus IT'S NOT THE CAR YOU ORDERED

It's no big deal, do the swap and enjoy your car. Chances are no one will ever know the difference anyway.
