Default ordering timeframes?

Hello,
I am a new member and this is my first corvette.
I tried to use the search function before I posted but could not find any information on this topic (I'm sure its me).
I ordered my first vette March 28 (2 weeks ago) and I was hoping someone can give me the average wait time to get a build date and/or delivery of vehicle. My dealership said they had 4 allocations when they ordered and only ordered two (mine included). I am not familar with ordering vehicles and this so far has been a real test of patience. I guess I really just need to know what to expect and when. I would appreciate any info.
Thanks

Delvery seems to run 4 to 8 weeks from the time the car is ordered. That is, if the dealership has an allocation available. I ordered mine the week before Halloween in 2006 and got her the first weekend in Decemberm-- about 6 weeks from order to possession.

Ordered both of mine, one in 07(traded),one in 08. Dealer said 4-6 weeks and they both came in around 5 weeks to the day. It's usually around 6 weeks if your dealer really did have an allocation.

Congratulations !! I placed my order on March 21 from a forum dealer and currently have a TPW of April 21. I'm having it courtesy shipped to my local dealer and expect to be driving it by the first week of May. Anticipation.....

I ordered mine on the March 11th. My TPW was April 7th. GM says I'll get it on or before Wednesday , the sales guy disagrees and says another week or two after that.

One tip: I found it a lot more helpful to forget the dealer and call GM customer assistance to get the Event Status Codes. When I did this they put me in their system and GM actually called me before the dealer did to let me know my delivery timeframe.

I ordered mine on the 28th as well...maybe twins? If yours in JSB they could be indentical twins! My dealer also said 4-6 weeks...he said I should call this week for the build date.

It's my first Vette as well, so I will try the Event status code tip. and let you know what I find out.

I ordered mine from Tim at Boardwalk and he placed the order on 3 March. I knew my TPW instantly which means he definitely had an allocation. Car was built 1 April, shipped 8 April and arrived over the weekend. I'll have it tomorrow. If you don't have a TPW from your dealer then I might consider moving on, or at least check the forum dealer prices.

Otherwise just add the time till you get the TPW to about 6 weeks.

Most of the info above is correct. If you ordered 2 weeks ago, you already have an order number. If the dealer really does have an allocation by now, they should be able to tell you the TPW.

If they were dishonest (a nice way of saying "lying to you"), then you won't have a TPW as of today. And if that's the case, frankly, don't you think you need a new dealer to buy from? I do.

Dealer allocation is the key. I ordered my on September 17th of 2007 and picked it up on October 24, 2007, And that included the strike week. If the dealer has the allocation, it should not take more than 4 or 5 weeks to get.

Lots of luck and welcome to the club.

I posted a similar question. My dealers alloction is for april 24th. But placed my order a few days ago. I assume the order will not even begin until the allocation is valid... Right.

Meaning, the timeframe starts from the allocation date. Meaing the 24th for me.

Correct. Your dealer should have given you your order number by now. After the 24th, you could/should go to the dealer and have them put your order number in the computer and show you the status. It will go to 2000 right away, meaning the dealer had an allocation and GM accepted the order.

Placed my order on 2/22 with Tommy Jr. at MacMulkin who has plenty of allocations. The car was built on 3/17 and I picked it up at the museum on 4/7.

The dealer emailed me the order confirmation that they received from GM to prove that they had and used an allocation.

My dealer just gave me my order number (ordered the car 15 days ago) but does not have a bulid date yet.

Can one of the the experienced players let me know if this makes sense and what a reaosnable timeframe might be.

It makes sense that you don't have a build date. My order was allocated a few weeks ago, and I will know a definate build date next wednesday. I just know its sometime between may 5 and may 18

If your dealer had allocation, your car should be built the week of April 28, or May 5 at the latest.

Hey guys,

Just talked to my dealership again. My salesman was off and talked to another salesperson. He talked to the ordering dude and called me back saying that they can't find out about ordering until a week from tomorrow, I said I was told the order was supposed to have been accepted almost 3 weeks ago. I then started calling the general manager and so forth. The internet manager called me back and told me there is a strike with a supplier and it has pushed everything back, and my order keeps getting kicked back. So if they order next week it will be 8-10 weeks from the day I ordered(3-28-08) or another 6 weeks from now until I might see my car.: toetap: I would walk but I gave a large deposit. Any suggestion? Also thanks for all the responses from my original post.

Hey guy, it's nice to be all friendly and everything, but the bottom line is you don't seem to know how to "walk from a deal." Is that correct, or are you just kidding around?

Look, you've asked questions, and they've been answered on here. If you don't know how to, or don't want to walk from a BS dealer, say so, and stop wasting time. Just live with the deal.

If you do understand what's been said above, then walk from the deal by asking for your deposit back (that's why it's called a deposit-----it isn't called a non-refundable deposit, is it?). And find another place to put in your order----there are about five right here on CF as vendor/dealers.

It's very simple.

Sorry you didn't appreciate my post. First off, I doubt very seriously if it's a non-refundable deposit. The dealership knows that. If you need help with that, say so. There are lots of CF members in your area.

Second, you can cancel your order and go with another. This is only if you feel like you're not getting the straight story from your current dealer. It seems that way to us, but only you can tell.

Finally, there are, and you do have options. Ordering a car is a business, and integrity is usually high on the list of what customers value. It isn't always reciprocated, however.

Good luck.

I thought the only strike (not even sure if its a strike) was with american axel...but that doesnt affect corvettes?

Thanks for all the advise.
Just talked to the ordering guy and he said the delay was due to his consensus due to the strike. I told him that no one else were having as much difficulties getting their orders. He said it would be next Weds (4-23-08) before he could find out when he could order, either 4-24-08 or 4-30-08. That is 4 weeks to 5 weeks they have had my deposit before ordering my car. I told him to have me a check in the amount of my deposit ready first thing in the morning.

As soon as I have cashed the check I will contact a forum dealer.

Thanks for the help AORoads I might still need your assistance. I'll know tomorrow
