New EG Website - Constructive Comments?
So after a year of my old website that looked like something a 4 year old created, I finally got around to revamping my website.
It is still in it's embryonic stage, with some 6000 pictures to add, as well as a few dozen videos, FAQ, Contact page, disclaimer, copyright, biography, price lists and online ordering.

I was trying to keep the entrance as small and possible so it would load fast.
The subpages will be intensely media heavy, with almost 40 videos in hi-res/192k sound and an insane amount of pictures (the complete Grond Chronicles, for example in 1024x768). Over 6000 pictures when completed.

It works well for dialup, but for faster connections, cable/ DSL not much going on.

Good choice, there's nothing worse than having a graphics intensive page that takes too long to load.

Thank you for all the useful suggestions.
As I am creating this Strawman website in my spare time, of which I have very little, it will take a little while for it to flesh out. However, I do sincerely thank you all for taking the time to critique the site and offer constructive criticism.
I never saw the old one but I do like this one. Very easy to navigate and loads quickly. I would agree that it does need some pizzaz to grab visitors eyes but other than that it's a really good start. Looks almost like a pre-defined template the way some graphics and information where in putted.
If you need any help let me know I do some work on the side here and there when not working on CCW's site. Made Jimmy's site & did all the photography: www.atomicautostore.com
I completely disagree. Entire flash sites were like spinners came and gone. Really horible to navigate, integrate, just blah. Now bits and peices of flash are ****!
Looks good. It works in both IE and FireFox so that's always good. Here are a couple suggestions.
1) I'd put your phone number in the footer as well.
2) Searches do much better if you do not have to click a search button to access it. I would suggest a simple search on every page and then an advanced search that has it's own page.
3) For seo purposes you probably want to rename your file names / directories to something more descriptive. You could tweak your html tags some too if that's a focus for you.

You have a nice, professional layout. Please avoid the temptation to use lots of FLASH, it just slows down and clutters up the site.
If people want entertainment from a website, there are many others to choose from. If they want a damn fine C5 or C6 when you get done with it, then they need to git themselves to Vero Beach.
I like it Stephen. Good clean look. The only thing I'd offer is to perhaps build up the text (font size) on the main page. I like the navigation and speed of loading. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the detail in the upcoming weeks.
The site is very cut and dry which makes it really nice to navigate and helps you stay focused on what you are actually going to the site for. A couple pictures in the home page would be good. I would do a bigger mission statement at the bottom. A write up on how you conduct buiness and what sets you apart from other Tuner shops is always a plus. I would tell a little bit more about yourself and how long you have been in the business (if it has been a long time).
Besides that I like it and I also wanted to click the arrow! you should make it a link to something like maybe pictures of comstomer rides..
Oh I also agree that too much flash is not a good thing. I would keep it simplified. Just my .02

I like it. It does load quikly. It does need more color and pizazz. It also needs some "clients." And I juist noticed the Map page is a sequence. I first kept increasing the size of the top map. Oh well, that's just me....
Understanding that you've probably considered and/or are working on these, here are some random thoughts:
Agree with the 'less is more flash' comments - unnecessary.
Agree about the 'color' - you need some. Time to think through identity - 'green' perhaps
Why not include 'Corvette' in your domain name? eg 'EnglandGreenCorvettes' This will clarify your intent to the customer and to the search engines.
Per above, move your Vette (open house?) pic to the header. Alt-tag it 'corvette tuning at england green' or something.
Add 'corvette tuner central florida' or similar to your title tag. Add meta description and keywords (corvette performance, corvette tuning, etc.) - they still matter - especially in niche and less (internet marketing) sophisticated markets.
Put your 'What we do' as the intro - 'We modify & tune Corvettes in central Florida' - use an H1 tag for that. Then tell people why 'you'. The 'list' of mods is good - link to those as you expand your content. Consider images at a later point.
Target/dominate your local market (Vero Beach) and then expand outward.
In the header, I'd rename 'Primer' - nobody will know what you mean. Try 'About Mods' or 'Why Mod?' or something. As you add content, and you certainly know your subject matter, consider breaking that into sub-categories.
Include testimonials on your client (and home) pages. Best lead to customer conversion comes from word of mouth.
Place an email sign-up on your frame/home page. Get the customer list started sooner than later.
Your Map page either needs to have a back button at the top (don't assume everyone knows where the back button is) or better yet, open the Map in a daughter window - keeping the original window open. You only need one Map FWIW.
Study your competition - what do they do well visa vi marketing? Copy it (not literally) or better yet, improve upon it.
You've always been helpful here on CF, I'm guessing you'll have a steady stream of customers (friends). If I were in C. Florida, I'd be one of them.

Didn't I say all this too? Not even close---good ideas, Chris.
Gene's right, too. It's not easy to design a good and working website.
