Runflats suck
Why would they EVER feel the need to warrantee road hazzards? Hey, for your sake, sure, I'm glad they did. But, for us in the rest of the world that had to pick up the bill.....

So, I guess that every 1500 miles, I'll just go stick 2 nails in each of my tires, then make everyone else in the world pick up the bill. Wow, how great.
No wonder these tires are so expensive, if GoodYear is WARRANTEEING tires every time people run over more than 1 nail.
Directly because of them I have an unseable investment. Luckly I have enough cars to drive so that's not an issue. Yes I could have another dealer patch the tire and it in all probabillity would be fine. But why should I void my warranty? that would be stupid on MY part. I'm so pi##ed right now, not at Chevy but a Goodyear. Ok I vented.
Check around. When I got new tires they were backordered through tirerack and the like, I went to my local tire shop and the guy had a set of four there in four days by checking with several distributers.
Good thing to know you have a stable of 'investments' and you're just bitching for the sake of bitching.
To get back to my original post, I still think GY needs to step up and maintain what THEY warranty. And no I won't get the tire patched and loose the warranty and no I cant find a replacement so I will wait for the new tire. Yes the tire holds air for a couple of days so that's not a problem other that this is my wifes daily drive so I would rather she used the Mustang.

a) I'd never REALLY stick nails in my own tires. That was sarcasm. I am far too honest to ever cheat a company like that.
b) I'm not saying YOU'RE dishonest... I'm saying your dealer is. Indeed, I'd need a hell of a lot of convincing before I'd EVER believe that it's GoodYear's company policy to replace tires for free under "warrantee" when they hit two nails. I believe your dealer is probably faking the reason for the "warrantee" repair, and is telling GoodYear something else happened to the tire (a tire FAILURE). Because, let's face reality here... is it GoodYear's FAULT your tire needs to be replaced? Did your tire FAIL due to a manufacturing problem? Or, did you hit some road hazzards (i.e. nails), which are completely different than a WARRANTEE repair? I think we all know the answer.
c) Yes, I understand that you say that 2 nails voids your warrantee, and now you need a new tire because of it, but, still, how is that GoodYear's fault? I mean, rolling over police tire spikes will also void your warrantee, and now you need new tires... that doesn't mean GoodYear should replace them for free. If some angry neighbor slashes your tires, that'll void your warrantee, and now you need new tires, but how is that GoodYear's fault? Slamming your Corvette into a brick wall at 80mph will void your GM warrantee too, but that doesn't mean that GM should give you a new car just because you did damage to it, due to something that was completely not their fault. LOTS AND LOTS of things can cause you to need new tires, and void your warrantee... but, unless those things are CAUSED by GoodYear, I fail to see why they should pay for them? WARRANTEE is for stuff that *IS* their fault... parts that fail prematurely... things that don't work as designed... problems that came from something that wasn't manufactured correctly... etc. Free WARRANTEE repairs do NOT include "hitting two nails" - even though that might void your warrantee. Your tire worked EXACTLY as it was designed to work... and you happened to hit two road hazzards. How do you figure that GY should pay for that? If I'm wrong about this, and it IS GoodYear's company policy to replace tires for free when they hit road hazzards that void the warrantee, then I have a REAL BEEF with them, because this is obviously the reason these tires are so damned expensive... they keep giving them away for free. (Though, I'd be hard pressed to believe that I'm wrong on this.)
d) Indeed, any time Person A gets something for free, it's because Persons B C D E F G H... all paid more. If you don't think that the price of the tires doesn't factor in all of the warrantee replacements, you live in la la land. Therefore EVERYONE ELSE *IS* paying for your free tire. If I owned that GoodYear shop, I'd never have written it up as a warrantee repair. I'd do my part to protect Persons B C D E F G H... from needing to PAY for Person A to get a new tire, when Person A was the guy who ran over two nails.
e) I know you weren't addressing me, you were addressing that other guy... but your connotation of calling someone "boy" was pretty rude.
f) You need to learn to write in English.
Given that you got a free tire, which had two nail holes (not GoodYear's fault, and should NEVER have been covered under warrantee), I hardly think you have ANY right to bitch, even though indeed it is frustrating that the supply was a problem... but hey, some people just complain, I guess.
If I was in your shoes, first of all, I wouldn't have accepted free work without contacting GoodYear's district management to make sure that indeed it IS their policy to replace tires for free after ***I*** hit nails. I'd accept the free tire if that was indeed their policy, because part of the money I paid for the tire/car in the first place was for that policy. But, if that ISN'T the policy, I'd report the dealer for offering to do "warrantee" repairs for free. Jackass dealers that try to charge the factory for illegitimate claims like this one are the reason that all of the rest of us are paying tooooooo much for tires.
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
I took precautions this winter and purchased a spare set of slightly used wheels and tires (on the forum) in order to have a spare set on hand and as replacement when mine wear out.
Once I replace them I'll always buy and keep another spare set in the garage.
You have to be somewhat self reliant when you know about an issue to protect drivability during the shorter driving season up north. I'd hate to waste a whole month in the summer without the car due to a flat.
Doesn't fix the OPs problem, or justify GYs stock situation but can save others the pain of waiting for a tire.

rockethead7, you are completely wrong. The facts are that the Goodyear run flats on our Corvettes do come with a road hazard warranty. That warranty states:
Any new Goodyear Run-Flat EMT tire removed from service
due to a covered warranty condition or rendered not
repairable due to a road hazard injury during the first 2/32"
treadwear or 12 months from date of purchase, whichever
occurs first, will be replaced at no charge. Mounting and
balancing are included.
TIRE SPEED...............MAX. NUMBER...........MAX REPAIR
(SPEED SYMBOL)................................. ....DIAMETER
130 mph and over ...........1......................1/4 in. (6mm)
(H, V, Z)
Q.E.D.
P.S. You should seriously consider using a spell checker. Your short post contains 5 spelling errors.
Further, Goodyear repair limits for speed rated tires (which includes our run flats) states:
Therefore, two nail holes (which are road hazards) render the tire not repairable.

I'm truly baffled about WHY GY would do this? As I said, *I* would never puncture my tires intentionally... but, what's to prevent others from doing that? (I have zero faith in the common man.) Free road hazzard warrantee, allowing a person to get free tires due to causes that have nothing to do with defective tires? Absolutely stunning.
Hence, as I also said in my other post, if GY *does* give such a policy, I have a real beef with GY for something like that. Indeed, that kind of ridiculous policy is a contributing factor in the price of the tire.
Anyway, I'm deeply sorry for any/all mistakes in warrantee/policy I made.
And, (edit) - no wonder there's a shortage of tires. With a ridiculous policy to REPLACE THEM FOR FREE for things that aren't their fault, undoubtedly they're being hit with a ton of claims... both fraudulent and legitimate. That's the stupidest policy I've ever heard of, and GY deserves to go out of business for doing something that dumb.
