Hello everyone. Been a while since I posted but I wanted to let everyone know I purchased an IPod Belkin adaptor from Costco today. It is one of those FM freqency kinds, but I thought the sound quality was pretty good. Plus, it includes a plug for charging the IPod from an electrical outlet.
The coolest part is that the adaptor actually searches for the strongest FM frequency at the touch of a button and it tells you where to tune so you can change it at any time with ease.
I think it was about 70 bucks. Just wanted to pass it on.

I use a unit from DLO that plugs into the cigarette lighter plug... $59.99 I went back to this after having problems with a Lock Pick.
"#

# dedicated dock for control of Blackbird II navigation system
# compatible with Alpine iPod adapter, Bluetooth adapter, HD Radio tuner, CD changer, navigation system, and surround-sound processor
# rear camera input
# A/V input and output..."
Wonder if it can play video from an iPod with the right cables? Saved to favorites...
Tough decision, this or headers?

Tom, you will have to get the W505 for the ipod video. Granted, I hear it doesn't work super well and the 505 is not much of an upgrade. Oh, My final cost installed was $1500. Not cheap but worth it.

I've got the same adaptor that you have, and I'm very happy with it. I bought it about 2 months ago, and use it all the time. You do have to change frequencies every so often when in town, but out on the highway, it will run for hours without adjustment.
I wanted a stereo shop to install an audio jack that I could just plug into the iPod, but they all wanted to do a fancy setup thru the NAV, which I didn't want. For $70 you can't beat the Belkin unit.
I have an fm frequency one that I bought at Bestbuy, I would have been better off burning the cash. It is terrible, the sound quality wouldnt pass for anyone. It should be illegal to sell such crap.

I went with an AVIC-D3 from C5KIDD which included everything you need to install the D3 itself + iPod connector (you control it from the stereo) +Sirius Radio for about $750ish after a $200 rebate.

Isn't the option cost of our "Premium Nav" system about $1,700? if so you still made out alright.
I wholeheartedly agree that there are FAR superior products out there (at a significantly higher cost), but I was just saying for 70 bucks this is a reasonable alternative, and better than some other FM frequency products I have seen.
