Leave it. Might be a slight loss of power.

Nothing wrong, your manual will state 87 is ok but loss of performance may be noted.

I would guess the delivery dealer put it in the car anyway to begin with. It shouldn't have a problem with it though.

Leave it but do not do any WOT until you get the right gas. The car is designed to work in an emergency with 87. Treat this as an emergency until you burn it out. Take it easy and no harm will be done.

Or, if you can't wait that long, buy a bottle (or two) of octane booster and add it into the tank. Read directions on bottle re amount.

Absolutely agree with rw and Ft Morgan and others. Treat the car as if you CAN'T do WOT. I'd say tho, don't wait until quarter tank. Get it down to 3/4 tank and fill with highest octane, then do it again when it gets down to 1/2 tank. Finally, let it go as low as you dare and then refill a third time with highest octane.

It happens, don't worry too much about it, but drive the car as said: like your grandmother drove it.

Park it on the side of the road, buy a new one. No sense taking any chances.

The computers will retard timing so no damage would ever occur even with a ton of full throttle runs...

You probably would make 5 or 10 less hp(just guessing the hp difference though) ... and running regular gas is no big deal.

If it were me? I'd run the tank down to 3/4's or half a tank and then just fill up with high test...

Mixing high test and regular is how they make silver grade..

Do that a couple of times and then just continue to add high test...

(remember the computers are so smart these days...regular grade gas just retards the timing.. and makes slightly less hp)

Assuming you ran your tank down to where you had 12 gallons of 87 left then if you add 4 gallons of 104 you would bring your octane up to 91.25. No holding back then! I believe 104 unleaded is what most race shops carry.

Here's the formula:

87 x 12 = 1044
104 x 4 = 416

1044 + 416/16 = 91.25

Not true. The computer can only pull out so much timing. If you run 87 octane in a C6 on a hot summer day don't be surprised to hear pinging.

Hell, mine pings on 89 and 91. It doesn't seem to matter which grade I select.

Check and see if someone in your area has some 100 octane unleaded racing fuel.

5-6 gallons should balance it out.

I knew of a C4 driver that absent mindedly put in a few gallons of diesel. He immediately went and filled it up with racing fuel and had a little smoke but no long term harm.

The Computer has both high and low octane timing maps. Sensing detonation, it will simply switch it to the low octane map. No big deal..
