Hi folks, Im new here and I just bought an 07 Black coupe a couple of months ago. It does not have a HUD, and I wanted to know if it can be installed from another c6 corvette?
Also where would I be able to find one? How much would installation be? Any input would be much appreciated.

I believe it would be very expensive/near impossible/not worth it if your vette did not come with it from factory but let's see what others have to say
Yes it can be done and several have done it here on the Forum. But it is not cheap and, IMO, not that easy to do. Some disagree but they are probably people that have a garage full of tools and don't have 10 thumbs...
I have seen several references to this, do a search. I am interested myself and it requires buying a few parts from chevy and a modified wiring harness to hook it all up. Rumored to cost ~$900. I would do it, but none of the contacts people have posted have panned out, no one replies to me.

I've driven a couple with the HUD, not a big deal, to ME not worth the trouble, lots of work involved. If my car had it from factory it would probably be turned off most of the time.
Member GMautotech is doing, or has just done, 2. He now knows how to make the wiring harness. I suggest you send him a PM and see what he has to offer. Here is the thread he posted in: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1985725
The most recent member who did it said he wouldn't do it again because he couldn't stand to see his car torn apart the way it has to be in order to accomplish the install. But, only you can determine what is acceptable to you. Good luck and keep us posted.
I researched doing it right after I got my 1LT 08. The problem boils down to this: GM does not sell HUDs unless you can supply them with a VIN for a car that shipped with it. All of them that you can buy are from wrecked Vettes. The "kits" arn't really kits they are the parts pulled from other Corvettes. When the "kits" can be found they usually go about $1000. In addition you have to install T-Taps into the wiring for your gauge cluster because unlike C5 there is no HUD provision on our clusters. Plus the people who have done it report 9 - 11 hour install times.
On top of it all I've never even driven a car with a HUD I may be one of those people who don't like it. So for me it isn't worth the risk/worry/cost to go through with it.
My opinion: A HUD is very useful in a military or even a civilian airplane. I don't see it as being any thing other than a toy in a car. We don't make bombing runs or landings in really poor visibility.

I like it. It is one of those things you really don't need, but it is nice to have. Who really needs a 400+ hp 2 door car? It is just something extra I want.

Unless it has a lead-computing gunsight, I don't need it!

All you need are the components (HUD, hud controls) and the custom wiring harness, Ddenzin, azvetters, gmautotech know how to make the harness. To do the install it takes 4 hours if you are fast or 10 hours if you are slow and drinking beer. Only common tools are needed (screwdriver, sockets). I believe I was one of the first here to do it. Still working great and I have no where near $1000 in mine. Just look for the components from a salvage yard or someone here on the forum building a racecar.
Search the archives and you will find a ton of detailed info.

The HUD in the C6 is kind of dated now since it is monochrome. The Cadillac gets a color version.
I have to laugh at myself when I drive my dad's truck, or anything else for that matter, my eye directly goes for that HUD. I guess I have grown quite used to it.
