Jeep vs. Corvette
Do I need a shrink or is my mindset okay?
My main vehicle for the past 8 years is a Jeep Wrangler Sahara. After the initial showroom newness wore off, I decided that Wranglers looked better a little muddy than perfectly waxed and polished. Every time I washed it up and waxed it, as soon as I was done I need to find some mud puddles to finish the job. A few tree branch scratches on the paint were a badge of honor.
A week ago I took delivery on my 2008 Corvette.
Now when I go outside I look at the Corvette and freak out if a see a speck of dirt on it. On the other hand, if I decide to take the Wrangler out, I wonder if it is dirty enough to be presentable in public.
Is this a healthy attitude?

You are completely sane
I have a 05 wrangler to go with my vette, and if that blue paint dosn't show some brown from the mud I'm not happy. Luckly in PA there is no lack of mud

I don't have a jeep but do have a 05 f150 fx4 that hasn't gotten washed in about 5 months. I like it washed but my z has taken up all of my time because it's black and I don't have a garage(it stays under 3 covers. an indoor,an outdoor and a tarp on top of that if it's going to rain. unless I want to clean it every day this is my only option). I CAN'T drive it if its dirty at all. I think I have OCD and so do my neighbors.

I hate to admit it, but our Jeep was way more fun to drive than the Vette although I am crazy about the Vette. The Jeep was casual, fun, and I didn't worry about getting it dirty or scratched like I do the Vette. It is like the difference in wearing jeans and a tee and a prom dress (or tuxedo). The latter look better but you can have more fun in the jeans and can eat nachos in them.
We traded our "real" Jeep for a Cherokee when our son was born because it seemed like the sane thing to do. I've missed the Wrangler for 9 years now!.
